Good to see Bullard's molehill quote being made into a mountain.

If anyone from LSU or UF needs to skew a bunch of quotes in order to be excited then they're in need of another pathway that doesn't involve football.

For LSU / UF last year, the teams had avg rush yards nearly identical 3.9 to 3.8. Fournette averaged 5.2 I think. Obviously the run game revolves around him. The biggest stat for him last year in this game was that he only had 3 yards lost. He's always getting positive yards. LSU had 195 net rushing yards and 305 total yards. LSU only had 3 lost yards rushing, aside from sacks, but UF did get 4 sacks. UF had 306 total yards. LSU held a 13 minute edge in TOP. Surprisingly LSU had twice as many penalties. LSU had 10 points off of turnovers and won the game by 3 points and I'm sure most people remember the dropped pass by UF that would have been a game winner.
Where I think LSU fans should be worried is in the fact that regardless of who plays QB for UF, the offense is much better. And, the offensive coaching is light years ahead of where it was last year. If avg rush yards were equal last year and the biggest change in this game is the difference in UF's offense, that should bode well for UF. I don't think LSU's offense has improved to the same degree UF's offense has. I mean, UF went from Muschamp to McElwain.

I think LSU was a combined 18-48 passing in the two games. Driskel ran for over 70 yards in last years game and Treon Harris is a better runner than he is. UF having to go without Grier is no advantage for LSU. Driskel had a lot of space in last year's game. Harris will run for over 100 if LSU does the same this year.

Here's the main advantage I see for UF:
UF is on the road so it'll be quiet when UF is on defense. First down is the key to the game. If UF starts getting tackles for loss on first down, the game is over as LSU will have short possessions, lose field position, and UF will score enough to win.
UF's defense is better than it was last year and has played pretty well against the run, while using mostly a nickel type approach. If UF loads the box, they still have plenty of talent in the secondary, and should be able to hold up OK against the run. UF has a lot of depth up front as well.
If LSU isn't able to just line up and push UF around, which I don't think they can, LSU will have to mix it up and get UF off balance in order to create room for the running game. If they come out with some different formations and groupings that are new, since it's quiet, UF will be able to communicate and probably avoid busted assignments and such. That could be enough to stop a quick slant on first down or whatever, and put LSU in 2nd down and 10 types of situations. This was a problem in the past, for example in 1999 when Bama came to the Swamp and changed some movement, the defense couldn't communicate. Jon Hoke mentioned it afterward. Up in BR, this won't be a problem.
And, if UF loads the box and LSU runs on 1st down and gets stopped behind the LOS, it's 2nd and 12 or whatever. I don't think LSU's run or screen game is good enough to bail them out of too many of those, with a defense like UF's.

I can't see how this game is a blowout either way and my hunch is that it'll be UF and the winner of Bama v LSU in Atlanta, so it may be the first of two for LSU/UF this year.

ETA: Was saying LSU 18-48 in the Bama and UF games combined, just forgot to add the Bama stat. Point was LSU's passing game has been pretty weak but they control the clock with a good running game.

hell last year we should have won

What the only reason it was close was because of our 80 yards worth of penalties.

LSU had more total yards.
LSU almost had twice as many 1st downs as Florida.
LSU TOP-36.37
UF TOP-23.23

In no way should you have won last year.

Yep people are overlooking Harris. Has probably the best touch in the deep ball IMO

You do realize you can look stats up before you sound like a dumbass, right?

LF vs UF 2014
27 carries
140 yards
5.2 YARDS PER CARRY
2 tds

Also, LSU's offensive line is a lot better than last years as well.

I red every word and completely agree, Sullivan. But I accidentally downvoted. So don't count it.

Not even Les is dumb enough to try that. There's a reason Florida fans would love to see TAMU or Ole Miss in Atlanta-- no one is passing on this team and winning. Not with any consistency.

True, it was one of the areas where he had an edge on Grier.

That's not the full quote, but even then we did add defensive coaching from two teams that shut down Fournette.

Holy shite. I know I can ignore everything you say about cfb.

A 100 yards total will be hard to come by for LSU on the ground.

We rushed for 195 yards last on with a worse oline and the worst passing game in lsu history.

It will be worse than OM for them.

You truly are football ignorant. The reason you beat ole miss was because their rushing attack is non existent and they tried to attack your strength(secondary).
Ole miss is 73rd in rushing yards per game.
ole miss is 91st in rush attempts per game

Maybe because they've played Florida and Bama already.

With most of it coming from Dobbs, but they gashed the Gators no less. Thing is, wtf happened after that game? How has Florida's defense played since then?

On the contrary, Florida's defense has the attention of LSU..specifically the offensive line. DBs on each team will be fired up and have something to prove...Harris and he WRs for LSU are tired of hearing we're a one man show...there will be an edge to the Tigers this weekend...

You don't think Florida's tired of hearing all the praise for Lenny Trill? All this talk like he's Herschel Walker when a) he couldn't carry Herschel's jock and b) it doesn't matter you could have the best running back on the planet and it doesn't mean you win a title anymore-- look at guy that Fournette will never equal-- Barry Sanders-- his team didn't win jack in his Heisman season (his numbers in that year btw for those who haven't looked are hard to equal in NCAA Football unless you put the game on Freshman-- seriously better than 260 yards and 2 TDs a game), neither did Bo, or D-Mac, Ingram did but he was part of a far more complete team than 4Net.

Hell, Florida's been hearing "such and such is gonna beat you" for going on a month now- this was UK's year, this was the year the Vols were going end the streak and do so emphatically, Ole Miss- man Florida was going to see what the SEC West was all about, Florida played over its head its time to come back to Earth in Columbia. Seriously, people have been saying "Florida can't be this good, this soon" for a solid freaking month and here they are 6-0, whatever happens on Saturday we're going to Atlanta, I'd say this is just round 1 but I don't see the Tigers getting there-- not with Bama, Ole Miss and Arkansas still on the schedule.

Seriously, Bama might, might be a better defense against LSU specifically (its what they're built to stop and why they'll probably beat LSU by 2 scores) but it comes at the expense of weaknesses in other areas-- Florida's a more complete unit.

Yards were 306 305 so even. But UF had more.
LSU got 10 points off turnovers and UF dropped a wide open pass to win the game. That had a far greater effect than the penalty yards. LSU had 46 more penalty yards than UF.
You're living in a dream world.

I don't know what's worse you trying to convince yourself UF will win or trying to convince LSU fans to believe you are better than us
