@STEM08: @WilllDaThrilll @KylePuma cross Tom herman off the list. Jack Arute just reported there’s already a secret agreement in place with SoCar

Done deal?

"special agreement"

If Strong leaves Texas and Texas wants Herman that agreement goes bye bye

USCw doesnt look like they have interest but if they did that agreement goes bye bye

Yep. No secret Herman wants Texas. I wouldn't be surprised if he held tight for a year to see what happens over there

The one thing that has always worried me with Herman is him jumping after 1 or 2 years.

Let's say he does sign with SC and then Texas comes open next year?

I kind of doubt that Arute knows anything anyway.

That concerns me as well. I don't feel like South Carolina (or Missouri) are stepping stone jobs, but if your dream job comes calling, how can you say no?

Do yo uthink Herman could pull off a season worthy of hiring him that quickly?

Hypothetically, if Herman goes to SC and has an amazing year next year and Texas gets rid of Strong, Texas WILL open the checkbook and WILL get Herman there if they desire.

Jack Arute

Any of you tried to listen to his radio show? He's unbearable. I doubt he knows much of anything "secret".

how is it a secret deal if Arute is blabbing about it on his show?

I agree with you. I think he saw Houston trying to restructure Herman's contract and just assumed that meant he already had an offer from another school, assumed he was going to take it, and assumed it was South Carolina.

He could possibly end up there. I just doubt Arute knows anything.

His radio show is like a caricature of a sports show. It should be on one of the comedy channels.

Umm...SoCaroline/Mizzou to Texas/USCw is a step up.

Herman has a plan. He doesn't have to go grab the quick money. He also gets Greg Ward back in 2016 and a schedule he can do damage with (OU neutral in Houston).

I'm guessing he sticks for a year and possibly goes to Texas next December.

I think if you're SC, you have to be careful with Herman. He's only been a coach for one year at Houston, so if he gets a better job offer next year he'd probably go take it again. I think it would be a really strong hire for them, but if Strong doesn't work out well at Texas they'll be calling Herman quickly.

If we sign Herman it will be with an ironclad buyout clause that is so expensive not even Texas would touch it.

They're still paying Mac Brown and they'd still have to pay Strong big money ... it would make the Tennessee payoffs look cheap.

If we do sign Herman - we'll sew-it-up and make it tough for anyone to come and try to take him.

Besides, once he is here for a couple of years he will not want to leave. This place is paradise ... God's Country. It's the end of the rainbow, the promised land, Shangri-La on the horizon.

If he is doing well he will not want to leave ... but we'll make sure to make it very tough for him to leave. I'm not the least bit worried about that. Ray Tanner has Mike McGee, Eric Hyman and Skip Bertman counseling him on this hire ... there will be no Ts uncrossed or Is undotted when the contract is finally signed ... if it happens.

That doesn't make us a stepping stone school though. You clearly didn't get what I was trying to say. If Herman came to South Carolina, the only place I'd feel he'd leave for is Texas. Same story if he went to Missouri.

There is no such a thing. You don't understand how much money they have, how many billionaires their program is backed by.

true, no one has gone on to a better job after coaching at South Carolina.

Except maybe Spurrior if you count making shirtless commercials a better job. Which many would.

One year does not a trend make. He might be good. He might be lucky. Chizik had a good year once, too.
