I've never been to the swamp and look forward to it. Living in Florida I finally understand why the majority of Florida fans are pompous assholes to other SEC schools. The gator chomp and the swamp that gave rise to Steve spurrier in the 90's are a direct result of the influence of the other schools in the state. It never occured to me how difficult it must be to be in Florida's geographical location. With the success of Florida state and miami, the Florida gators have had to deal with the ever presence of seminole and hurrican fans in their back yard every day taughting them through the success of their programs. How annoying it has To be to hear a Florida state fan screaming their schools war chant everywhere you go. Then you have miami fans always talking about the U. Years and years of constant nagging have rubbed off on the gators in my opinion. Considering how many people are in the state of Florida and the hotbed of talent they have here. If Florida didn't battle with all of these fans from other schools there is no way they could handle it from their own conference. I'm not going to call Florida the little brother in this situation but they sure do have the mentality of one.

Miami has a non existent fan base outside of Miami.
You really can't compare FSU to UF as far as institutions go. They are in different places. FL is waaaay better pretty much in everything, except in football on occassion. We have a much bigger fanbase. Yes, that is why we are a bit arrogant I guess. It is really hard to get into FL.
But it is what it is.

This is just wrong, wrong, wrong. check your UF/FSUcks history. We have owned them since the series started.
scUM had a brief run with their criminals in the 1980's but the days of them being a power player in college football are over.
We do what we do because we are who we are, not because of the little sisters in the state.

Even though uf leads the series, from 87 to 2003 FSU dominated the series 13 to 5. Tebow and urban turned It around but It looks like jimbo has taken over again. I also think the success of these two schools even if you didn't play them every year has had a direct impact on the overall view of your program.

Who cares? I don't base our success or lack thereof on anything those two schools do.

I'll side with Florida on this one. FSU fans are intolerable. 2nd rate school and 2nd rate sports for most of their history. Hayull, they were a girls school until 50-60 yrs ago. They are the definition of new money. This isn't like Bama/ AU or UGA/ Ga Tech.
FSU is full of insufferable cheesedix and trashy ho's. Remember the vid of the FSU player hitting the gal? The most disturbing part of that video wasn't the girl-punch, it was the dam bartender in the over-all short, no shirt get up. That is FSU.

I can only speak of my experience.
The 60's were great, a Heisman winner, lots of wins. John Reeves and the super sophs.
The 70's were exciting with Doug Dickey and his unpredictable talented superstars.
The 80's under Charlie Pell produced an SEC championship and a National Championship in 1984 and the best team in the nation in 1985. The rest of the decade we got to watch Emmitt Smith run thru the record books.
so in my life time before the 90's, It was great to be a Florida Gator.

Are you saying that the multiple 11 win seasons and three national championships during the Bobby Bowden years and five national championships that miami has won have no effect on the Florida gators presence or perception in the state? Not in recruiting or anything?
