This guy obviously has an ax to grind with the university and has no clue if he thinks the university is strategically going after in state students. Sounds to me like he's butt hurt about the joke of a football program at uab getting the ax. Unfortunately it looks like they may bring that disaster of a team back.

Here is a photo of that professor doing the math.

Professor Bodine is famous for having developed the ciphering method of multiplication and division and is thought to have developed Cauchy's Number. He pioneered the "times" and "guzinta" concepts the rudiments of which are explained in his seminal classic "Ciphering", a leading graduate-level textbook in number theory.

There we go. Can't believe it took this long to attack the guy with the phd.

I expect more from tomorrow's spin. Gump brains work slowly, but I figure some thoughts to spin it will eventually surface.

He mentions the "Capstone's dearth of Alabamians" but he apparently doesn't realize that there are more Alabamians enrolled at the Capstone than there are at any other campus in the state.

In raw numbers of percentage?

Not trying to start up, just asking.

In raw numbers. In state enrollment has been roughly the same for the last 10 years or so while out of state enrollment has been the cause of the increase in enrollment.

does ua BOT want to shut down UAB undergrad? no.

does ua BOT in any way provide an environment for UAB's undergrad programs that compete with ua's to improve and prosper? no

That basically states it honestly. However, wouldn't it be better as a whole for the state and city of Birmingham if the BOT did allow UAB undergrad environment to compete with UA's? This doesn't mean that anything has to be taken from UA. Have two strong undergrad programs in the same part of the state. Setting ceiling limits for undergrad quality at one school sounds analogous to the old south racial attitudes that use to be prevelant.

This is the craziest conspiracy theory I have seen so far. Anyone actually read the "opinion" piece? You have to be a total nut job to believe this.

al.com is a complete joke of "news" source.

Really.. your State of Alabama has been broke and cash poor for years... and shite rolls downhill to your education system... closing down UAB's football team was just the beginning.

And LSU is filing bankruptcy... Who's on first?
