Already corrected before you posted. I have problems typing on my phone, but I at least try to write a response and do not dodge a question.

There's a difference between minor grammatical errors and complete gibberish, by the way.

All in the eye of the beholder. I am not bothered by grammar issue as much as I am by posters who try deflecting questions.

Is anyone going the answer the question related to endowment versus debt? Or just grammar smack downs right now?

Well, I answered your question with a question:

Are your endowments restricted or unrestricted?

That's not really true though, is it? I answered your question (to the best of my ability - I'm not an expert on ACT scores), but you haven't answered several questions that I asked you.

In my defense, I've answered a bunch of questions about this. Iron Tiger started going off on tangents about ACT scores, so I made fun of him for a while.

The endowments are restricted, but that's not particularly important to the situation. What IS important is whether or not Alabama has the cash flow to service the debt. It does, in some part due to the revenue from the endowments.

Apple raised $35 billion in debt last year as part of its capital plan. Anyone here concerned about Apple going out of business?

Did you graduate from Auburn? Are you over 65? Do you think you should be more concerned about Auburn's financial situation than Alabama's?

I think someone in this thread has been pissing in the wind and may need a water break to rinse off.

Yes, no and yes. AU is going thru a major fund raising campaign now (700M already), but money is going to be a major issue at all the Universities in Alabama. AU has always been short on offering Academic Scholarships, but has always attracted the higher academic students. I fear that they are now forcing the in-state students to look elsewhere, because of some of their scoring requirement. It doesn't serve the State to educate other states students.

someone is going to educate out of state students. Why not be a school from Alabama to get high achieving students in. A good % of them will stay and find great jobs in Alabama. I see it as a win win for Bama and other schools who recruit them. at Least 5 people that I know of who have graduated from HS in the past 7 years got great scholarship offers from miss. schools. All of those are living and working in the state of Miss.

A good % of those students will go back to their original States and only return to Alabama 8 times per year. They provide zero tax base to the State and use Alabama Universities as an Education Mercenary.

In raw numbers. In state enrollment has been roughly the same for the last 10 years or so while out of state enrollment has been the cause of the increase in enrollment.

Thanks for a good, factual answer. Makes sense, more money for the out of state fees.

This should be a solid conversation between UA and AU alums. We are in the same boat with our state government.

Here is the flaw in that plan. In order to educate those 18K new out of state students, new roads, dorms, labs and academic halls had to be built. Who paid for that infrastructure ? Out of State Tuition does not factor in new construction.

Richard Shelby factored into a lot of Alabama's construction rampage.

Agree, but there are more construction costs that the Feds are not funding.
