Freeze took a 2-10 OM team to a bowl in his 1st season. Why can't Butch win?

The team is getting better every year. Good recruiting. You can see a progression in Freeze's gameday coaching. The team believes it can beat anybody.
Then I see Butch Jones in what, year 3, with the same record as Dooley bragging about losing in OT to Oklahoma. I heard him on the radio yesterday morning already making excuses. Starting all these young players and whatnot.
I just don't understand why it seems to be so hard to win games at a perennial BIG 6 university. I also don't understand why you Tennessee fans are talking so much shite.
Someone pls halp me understand.
ETA: Seriously. Butch has been pulling in top recruiting classes since he's been at UT and they still suck. You can't tell me that Dooley left the cupboard at UT more bare than Houston fricking Nutt did at OM.
It seems like OM is a better job than the one in Knoxville.

ETA: in all seriousness, Tennessee has pulled in monster recruiting classes, there is no excuse for them not to own the East at this point. Especially with Florida being down and UGA choking all the time.

Ole Miss has one decent year where they still get that arse beat in the bowl game by an old MWC team and they have already proclaimed themselves the best SEC program.

No one is seriously proclaiming that. We are a formidable opponent for anyone in the country though. Ole Miss. Ole Piss. The runts of the SEC.
I'm just trying to understand the dynamics of a big-time program like UT having trouble winning games when a small university in Pississippi is churning out wins over top-10 teams on the regular.
