When I was a youngster growing up in the North, I got a taste of SEC football by watching a great Bulldog RB. He would finish third in Heisman voting in 1992 and had a pretty successful NFL career (2x Pro Bowler), yet he's not mentioned as much as some of the other greats in Georgia history. How is Garrison Hearst generally received by the Bulldog faithful? I'm a Yankee but some of my best memories of college ball were by greats like Derrick Thomas, Eric Zeier, Garrison Hearst, Danny Wuerffel, Danny McManus (FSU), Neon Deion, Antonio Langham, so I respect great football. I'm not some know-nothing that y'all are going to bully around here. Peace, and I'm out

FWIW - I thought Hearst should have won the Heisman that went to Marshall Faulk. Their numbers that season were remarkably similar and Hearst did it against a much higher level of competition.

I know that Faulk went on to be an all-timer in the NFL but, the Heisman is for the best player in CFB which, in that season, was Garrison Hearst.

Cant speak for that poster, but I'm not. They beat us straight up with a good team. Props to them. The frick off yankee bitch, imho, was an obligatory post to start off a thread started by a yankee. Now we can carry on...

That's right...frickin Geno Toretta won it that year, right?

I think I was remembering the Heisman talk throughout the season instead of who actually won.

Toretta deserved the Heisman that year also

But the two RB that don't get much love are Worley and Tate. If Worley would've not snorted anything he saw he would've been all pro

Mmmmmh, I don´t know. He was a pretty damned big deal, respected and revered.

UGA has had many a great back. Many.

Toretta folded when the lights shined bright. Its the reason P Manning isn't in the GOAT conversation at QB and why Greg Maddux, despite being my favorite pitcher of all time, cant be considered even one of the top 25 pitchers in MLB history.

I will agree with you about Worley and Tate. They were absolute beasts in college.

I don't really understand why people from the north feel the need to squeeze that tidbit into every single conversation that they have. Like congratulations, you're from the land of bland food and ugly women, you don't have to shove it down us simple southern folks' throats every chance you get

Can you imagine how many NCs UF would have if we had all those running backs that went to UG?

Mucho

Its been covered, if you read the whole thread.

I was in California in the Air Force during that season, so I remember the season rolling along with all the Heisman talk being about Faulk and Toretta, and being pissed about it because Hearst wasn't in the convo.

Since I was in Cali, of course I heard about Faulk all day every day and that's why I thought I remembered Faulk winning it. Then, after the other poster said the mythical Faulk Heisman, I remembered that Toretta won it, then got exposed by Bama.

One of the troubles of getting old, sometimes details of memories get switched. I don't rely on the internet to supply me all of my facts and wisdom. Forgive an old guy for having a brain fart.
