Not really. He was fairly average last year. State has a bunch if talent coming in.

He's been planning on transfering for like a month now.

Why'd he even pick Mississippi State in the first place? I know he was born in Shreveport, LA and went to high school in Jackson, MS, but Mississippi State? For basketball? Ehh...

His dad played at State and State paid the most for him (if you want the truth).

His father is one of the problems here. He was at every practice and is right in the ear of the staff at all times.

I wonder if Self told his father, we will take your son, but you must keep your distance?

Gotya. That makes sense.

Dear God. Sounds like that isn't even worth the trouble. LSU has had somewhat similar instances with player's family.

This is great for recruiting! Howland can tell potential recruits that after 1 year at State they have the chance to transfer to a top program like Kansas, Duke, or Kentucky!

The only thing that can stop Malik Newman from being a dominant force in basketball in the eyes of State fans is him putting on a different jersey. Funny how that goes.

I think you know the answer to this, but I was chatting with an AAU coach not too long ago and he mentioned Malik Newman and a 300k duffle bag.

In the last 10 years, a Big East, ACC and Big 12 Player of the Year/First team all-conference has been a transfer from Mississippi State.

It baffles the mind.

That's an expensive duffel bag!! Luis Vitton? Dooney & Burke? One of those Italian designers?

Howland literally ran him off. And I couldn't be happier.

So he's going to a coach that won't prepare him for the league? Should've stayed at State. Can't name one good pro to come from kansas under Self
