Why not include that one was a conference champion, and one wasn't?

That issue didn't matter last year, did it?

Of course, you will say apples to oranges...

I can see why you would want try something different but we would likely have broken that kid in half.

Oklahoma State should be the target of the rage here, IMO. All they had to do was beat a 4 touchdown underdog. Not only did they lose, they blew a 24-7 lead.

Who would have been the 4th team in a 4 team playoff that year? Stanford?

LSU vs Stanford

Alabama vs Oklahoma State

Yep, that would have been fun

One of the ultimate ironies in all of this is we owe our 2007 national title to Pitt and WVU playing out the exact same scenario.

Because when the teams have the same record it in no way, shape, or form changes your actual resume.

If I were an employer I wouldn’t hire the worse candidate simply because they received some award that the better candidate didn’t
if you were the employer, and you wanted to find the best candidate, why would you interview a candidate a second time that was already beaten out by a candidate?

I'm gonna need a 3rd layer of this analogy before I make my decision. Make it happen friends.

just after a tragic plane crash

This remains one of the most pathetic excuses I’ve ever seen for a loss in any sport, at any level. Yes, that plane crash was such a distraction that they jumped out to a 24-7 lead. They must have started dwelling on the tragedy at halftime, huh.

Yea, considering our long-snapper was thrown 100 yards and his girlfriend died in a tornado 6 months earlier along with 1/3 of our city being destroyed I think we'll call it even on the tragedies.

Read the reddit post and digged a little, his name is Hayden Boudreaux and he was a walk on fullback. Literally never heard of him until I looked him up. I heard from other walk-ons that Les played favorites and didn’t really care about walk-ons. Probably the source of bitterness. This guy sounds like more of a lifelong LSU fan that walked on than someone Les recruited and actually coached. Not saying he is wrong, just providing perspective on the quotes.

I’ll also say that at any Power 5 program the head coach doesn’t need to spend any time on guys who will never see the field. I interpreted the zero respect bit as a guy who rooted for LSU his whole life being criticical of coaching deficiencies than how Les acted. If he were that much of an a-hole to players it would be much more widely known.

You talked about LSU like they were a candidate and not already hired. If that were the case I would have two positions available for the BCSNCG

This doesn't bother me at all. This isn't old school college football or Peewee's. These are grown men playing on a stage equivalent to pro football. If you were good enough you'd be on scholarship. No problem that coach paid more attention to the players that are actually going to be on the field competing 100% of the time. Walkons are important to the overall team but I don't feel sorry for their hardships.

Alabama didn't deserve to play LSU

It was obvious after the 2012 BCS Championship Game that LSU WAS NOT the best team in the nation. The question is whether Oklahoma St. was better than Alabama.

I completely agree. He isn’t there to be your buddy, he is there to win games and there is only so much allotted practice time a week.

I've heard the exact opposite.

Look up Anthony Zehyou(sp?) a walk-on awarded a scholarship his senior year and got to dress and play in numerous games including the NC in 2007.

Difference is, he didn't quit like this kid probably did. He showed up every practice and got his arse kicked just so he could play football.

Well you’re talking about a guy who got a scholly and saw game time vs a guy who didn’t sniff the field. I am only passing along something I heard, I’ve never been remotely close to a Les Miles/player interaction. He did used to hang out around Mikes habitat on graduation day and talk to grads and their families. There are countless stories of Les and his family being gracious with their celebrity. I’m going to put more stock in stuff like that than something some pissed off former walk-on fullback that I never heard of says on reddit.
