Thinking back on how cheesy he was in victory against Les Miles - like winning wasn’t enough - like he had to announce that he was the new self- appointed king of the SEC. And then comparing himself to Saban lol. I remember watching that and thinking that this guy is not long for this league. Like McIlwain he’s just a slimy guy and he’s proven it time and time again.

Click bait for Nick Mason, no thanks.

The hardest part about living in Fayetteville, is trying to remember to not call him Bert. I've slipped up a couple times.

I think his wife keeps overfeeding him so she can collect the life insurance policy

I call him Bert. At one of the games last year when he walked out of the locker room I yelled "Go Bert!" and he laughed and waved in my direction.

the personal attacks have started, so it's really getting bad. just a few weeks ago everyone liked bert, he just couldn't get the job done.
guys, I know how it feels when you know you need to start over with a new coach, and you can't wait another minute.
free advice - you'll never regret not making the personal attacks. you will feel like an a-hole later if you do. attack him for not getting the job done.

Indeed. I've met Bielema twice in person and he was a very nice guy both times. I don't have anything against him other then the fact that he is a lousy head coach in the SEC.
I have called him lazy and I'll stick to that. But I don't think that is a personal attack so much as acknowledging that is a drawback to his coaching style. He likes to take it easy and not push his players hard, he's said so in more then one interview. Bielema thinks it keeps people fresh for the end of the season.
Its time for him to go. He'll make a great talking head on TV if he goes that route.

say you had a time machine and could go back to Nutt over Bert... would you?

At least he didn't call him bert or "that fat SOB".

and be trucking right along with an amazing offense and no defense whatsoever...

Bert is just too damn nice. He wants to be the players friends which would be great if we were playing ping pong.
I remember everyone being terrified of our high school coach. If you did something amazing he wouldn't even mention it, but man if you screwed up!

Its very likely that we are going to get a Nutt like coach anyway.
Let me take you back to 1989. Ken Hatfield has just wrapped up a 10-2 season for the Hogs, coming off another 10 win season the year before. But his relationship with AD Frank Broyles was so toxic he left for Clemson without having even seen their campus.
We go to an emergency hire to replace him, sound familiar so far?
Said emergency hire was a disaster so we get a coach that has had tremendous success in Danny Ford.
Who was a Bielema like failure. I believe Ford and Bielema have identical winning percentages right now at 46%. When Ford was shown the door we went with a coach that had close ties to the state in Houston Nutt.
I suspect the next coach will have ties to the state as well.
No, the big go back in time moment is Pete Carrol calls about the Arkansas job, he's a former assistant and former NFL head coach and thinks he can build a powerhouse program at Arkansas. Broyles doesn't even bother to call him back. There's a what if to think about.

Yeah he hasn't gotten it done as a coach but I still like the guy. I don't get the personal attacks. Of all the coaches we've had in my lifetime he's the one I'd most like to meet.
But I'd still ask him if I can call him Bert and I'd get in a joke about his weight. If he can't handle that then idk what to say

I talked with him in line getting coffee in San Destin two years ago. Seemed to have a sense of humor when I mentioned the talk on this site

Really, the OL changes are the reason Arkansas is terrible this year. They miss their OL coach - a lot

It's like watching a snake eat itself.
