Glen Coffee is making a comeback.

The retired running back was reinstated by the league and subsequently waived by the 49ers, his former team, on Friday, Coffee's agent Duray Oubre told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.

He'll probably get a camp try-out with some team, but I'm betting his chances are slim.

Best of luck to him though. Always seemed like a good dude.

best of luck to him. Hopefully he can stick around for through camps at least and make some money. He could be a semi-pro GOAT somewhere at the least

Only communists or ISIS would downvote a great American like Glenn Coffee

Good for him. He looked like he could become a capable backup at one point in time, but he's been pretty far removed from football for a long time.

I wish him the best of luck.

He had a good year or 2 with the 9ers.

Pulling for you Glenn

The first great RB of the Saban Era. In 2008, he quietly equalled Shaun Alexander's single-season rushing record. That record has since been surpassed by the likes of Ingram, Richardson, and Henry, but it truly is remarkable how undervalued he was while at Alabama.

Glenn Coffee is what really established that "Bama Runningback Stable" trend in 2008. Here's a sports illustrated shot of him that's super cool.

I hope he gets now that the NFL is harder than the SEC. He felt differently when the 49ers drafted him.

I'm guessing he failed on his SF quest?

Looks like he did.
quote:

While the meme asks “Who’s the real hero?” and former Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling called Coffee’s story a “legend” on Twitter, reality suggests that Coffee’s career was more complicated: He was discharged in May as a private first class — indicating he was demoted at some point. He initially joined the Army to become a Green Beret, but he washed out of the qualification course and left the military without deploying after serving three years and four months, less than the typical four-year contract.

Yep. He spent most of his time as support personnel for the third phase of Ranger School in Florida. I wonder what his discharge was since he was a Specialist in 2015.

Not sure but its weird that he didn't go to Ranger school but worked for the Ranger unit. Usually Airborne and Ranger units require their soldiers to go to school shortly after joining. I knew a corporal that failed Ranger school and after that, the batallion didn't want anything to do with him anymore- ended up transferring out after a couple months of sitting in his barracks.

He was support personnel, not part of the actual cadre. That's a shame he washed out of the Q after making it through SFAS.
