A post the other day about Tulane and Georgia Tech in the SEC piqued my curiosity. Mr google brought this to my attention: Sewanee football history: 1899 team went 12-0
11 shutouts. Auburn did manage to score in an 11-10 loss.

With just 13 players, the team known as the "Iron Men" had a six-day road trip with five shutout wins over: Texas A&M, Texas, Tulane, LSU, and Ole Miss. Sportswriter Grantland Rice called the group "the most durable football team I ever saw."[1] The road trip is recalled memorably with the Biblical allusion "...and on the seventh day they rested."[2][3][n 1]

Pretty sure no one is going to score 222 points in a game again either.

A&M 1917, 1919...unbeaten, all shutouts.

'38 thru '39 VOLs with 17 straight shutouts. Most likely won't be broken.

Depends on how long Chavis sticks around.

If they keep over paying him I'm sure he'll give it a shot.
People laugh about his overall defense, but he's also the LB coach & suffered another transfer last week. Aggies are down to 4 legitimate LB's while the Chief is cashing weekly 5 digit checks.

If you're using that standard, A&M was already down to 4. Dwayne Thomas dropped to 4th string after being on campus 3 years.
So who between Alaka, Dodson, Hines, Johnson, and Marchiol is not a "legitimate linebacker"? Even Garner and Gillaspea provide bodies at depth on special teams.

The point on Thomas wasn't in reference to having only 4 legit LB's, simply a bust.
Marichol isn't in the 4 either, Buddy Johnson is the 4th. Buddy & Hines are true FR, so in total 4 legit LB's & 2 are fish. Wtf is Chavez thinking?

I think you are making a joke. Or maybe you do know.
But if you look at the record books schools used to play all kinds of weird opponents.
I think South Carolina played the Augusta YMCA once. Pretty sure I've seen YMCA on a Michigan opponent before.
Got curious once about Auburn's game in Havana (think they were the last US team to play there). They played Villanova, but other schools have played in Havana against opponents like a local club team from Cuba.
Than during WWII you can see things like Great Lakes Naval Training Station against some big name team.
At some point that kind of thing went away, not sure when or why exactly though.
Oh, and I know I've seen that Michigan played some high school teams back in the day.

Not sure it's the record, but Neyland won 112 games by shutout. If it's not the record, whomever has the record will hold it forever.

I don't think anybody wants to play them today anyway. Those are some rough looking dudes and dudettes. Had to ride by there a couple of days ago, as a matter of fact. Floored the gas and prayed to escape unharmed.
