In summary, claiming discrimination because whe he was terminated his buyout terms weren't equivalent to MS white coaches ...Mullen and Freeze. I suppose to make this claim you need to ignore the fact that the contract terms involve negotiations. It will be interesting to see if the IHL caves and pays up.

JACKSON, Miss. — Fired Jackson State University head football coach Harold Jackson is suing the Institutions of Higher Learning claiming illegal employment practices based on race. Advertisement “White coaches get all of their money if they’re fired without cause. Black coaches have to take a smaller payout, and it’s just not right,” said Jackson’s attorney, John Hall. Jackson was fired in 2015, with $329,808 remaining on his employment agreement that ran through Jan. 12, 2017, according to the lawsuit. Tap here to read the lawsuit.
“Upon his termination, he was handed a $65,000 check to be on his way,” Hall said. Hall said that amount is different from to the amounts and terms listed in the contracts of white coaches, differs. “All of these white head coaches, in their employment contracts it states that if they were terminated early without cause, they would get the balance of their contractual agreement,” Hall said. The lawsuit says Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze, USM coach Jay Hopson, and MSU coach Dan Mullen would all “receive an amount equal to the base salary for the remainder of the contract period” or “all remaining salary due under contract.” It also says that when Hopson was coach at Alcorn his contract said he would get “all remaining base salary due.”
The lawsuit cites differences in the terms for African-American head football coaches. JSU’s last three coaches, including Jackson and current coach Anthony Hughes, included specific amounts: $50,000 for Rick Comegy, $65,000 for Harold Jackson, and $100,000 for Tony Hughes. Comegy is now coach at Mississippi Valley State. His current contract states “no express contractual right to receive an amount equal to the base salary… upon early termination.” Hall wants IHL to not only pay Jackson what he believes is fair, but he wants the contracts of African-American coaches at state schools modified. “This is not about winning football games or losing football games. This is about right and wrong and illegal employment practices,” Hall said.

I wonder what Sylvester Crooms buyout was?
If this clown didn't like his buyout he should've negotiated better.
ETA Crooms was $1.2 in 2008

Especially considering his contract was negotiated with an HBC, kind of hard to play the race card there.

Now race card is being used to void contracts? Lol this world

Translation: It's not fair that the HBC Coaches hired crappy attorneys , such as myself, to negotiate these crappy contracts. If the HBC Coaches had hired competent agents to negotiate contracts then they wouldn't be taking less money.
Hilarious

Damn, RIP Charlie Murphy

He was an emotional hire (former player) that had failure written all over it. He signed the contract and knew the terms. I don't see how this goes anywhere other than to open the eyes of other coaches in the future as to how they manage their contracts. Low dollar jobs like this don't exactly attract the best agents. Plus, he probably wanted the job so badly that he didn't really care about a buy out. This is on him and his agent.

Tony Hughes, give him 2 more years and Jackson State will kick arse in the Swac.
I'm ignoring the other story because Jx State can't afford a huge buy out. Let's face it, the Sec has the money for huge contracts, the Swac does not. That dude's lawsuit is like pounding sand.

Do you remember a few years ago when a group of JSU boosters tried to sue because State and OleMiss has just finished multi-million dollar stadium renovations, and they wanted multi-millions to be spent on MS Memorial? Or they wanted an on-campus , domed stadium for JSU football
Fund-raising Mfers, ever heard of it?

Yes. The fact is, Jx State coaching job (agent or not) is in the Swac. They don't have the revenues to pay big money for coaches, let alone a buyout for anything worth shite. He's using the race card for no reason.
It's no different than coaching a lilly white college nobody cares about. Those coaches (white ones too) make little money. But lets not allow facts to get in the way.

Charlie Strong. A black coach.
As a result, Texas still must pay Strong more than $9 million over the next two years. His deal with the Longhorns called for UT to still pay him slightly more than $5 million a year in 2017 and '18 but to receive an amount equal to half his annual compensation at any new job he landed during that period.
I guess Black Coaches in big schools must laugh at this lol.

Here's more proof that race-baiting is a money grab for certain individuals. Still pissed DeRay got paid $100,000 by Baton Rouge taxpayer money for blocking a fricking roadway.

Sounds like a very solid lawsuit.
who is supposed to pay?
Jackson State? The only entity with whom he had a contract?
How did JSU discriminate between this guy and white guys?

Nothing to do with current topic but you hit a nerve.
Wtf is up with DOT in Baton Rouge? I recently went thru there and they are still working on 2 roads not even a mile long for 5 years.
Where I live they completed a 10 mile strip in One year! Are they still working on Oneal Lane too? I haven't seen that in the past year but good gosh they were working on that shite years ago too.
