How the **** were you able to get a southpaw that throws 98 to not sign out of high school. Was it one of those deals where the scouts thought he was too raw coming out of HS? family ties to the university? seems to me the scouts would have been drooling to get a kid like that in their system as early as possible.

I think 30th round money wasn't good enough. He was very raw too.

maybe so. that's why i'm asking. he wanted more money but had too many question marks to warrant that much pay?

Drafted in the 35th round already with a pretty strong commitment to Florida. His fastball was only low 90's at that point also and he said himself he wanted to develop and get better. People were pretty split on whether he would sign or not. Florida just got a little lucky. It happens.

Baseball America ranked him #85 in the 2013 Baseball America Top 500.

Side question. What is his recovery like? When would he be able to go again in the SEC tourney?
