Finebaum vs. Pollack, Pollack has issue with Finebaum

ESPN video where Pollack challenges Finebaum over whether or not USC job has lost luster. Especially at end Pollack throws a dart at Finebaum with final comment. Note the angry facial expressions on Pollack's face. My gut tells me that in previous round tables that Finebaum belittled Pollack on certain issues. Link: LINK

I agree with Finebaum, actually. USC isn't a top tier job anymore. It's on the same level as Nebraska now.

I agree basically. Pollack presented his argument with valid points too, but he seemed to attack Finebaum on a somewhat personal level imo. Maybe there's nothing there but it caught my attention.

USC certainly is a top tier job. Alabama, Texas, Ohio St., Michigan, Miami, Notre Dame will always be top tier jobs. Any and all of those programs could own college football in a minimum of three years if a top 5 coach landed there. Look at Alabama and Ohio St. Michigan looks to be on the right path in year 2.

Maybe it's because I like Finebaum, but it seemed like Pollack was being kind of a bitch in that segment.

The link I gave is not the link to the part that I alluded to, or rather it does not show the full segment. To see the part with fireworks go the ESPN main front page for college football.

You're out of your mind. Nebraska can't get recruits in because it's a cold boring corn field and there are dozens of programs with better weather, women, and academics.
USC is a good school. It's in Southern California. A rich history of Heisman winners, championships, and NFL draft picks.
They just need a competent coach. Kiffin was a train wreck. Sarkisian was a drunk. And the new guy doesn't know what he's doing as evidenced by how unprepared USC had been all season.

USC is as top tier of a job as there is in college football

I think it was a matter of semantics. One was arguing whether or not USCw was a top tier program right now and the other is whether it was a top tier coaching job.
USCw is NOT a top tier program right now, although with the right coach it could be in a couple of years.
USCw IS a top tier coaching job, in that they could attract a top tier coach at any time. (Pat Haden just wouldn't know a top tier coach if he bit him on the nose. Haden wants to get a top coach on the cheap. He wants to next young up and coming coach)

But, when was this not true? I think it has more to do with so much football being on the tube that now recruits are being shown other options easily.

True. And they are still getting very good recruits, but not as many as they once did in spite of those advantages.

Watched the clip, I don't really see all that much Pollack vs Finebaum. I think Finebaum made an outrageous statement that USC is no longer a coveted job, and Pollack was incredulous (as was Booger, he just wasn't showing it on his face as much).
Finebaum had a point, he just overstated it.

USC is definitely still a top job.
Elite talent base, massive media market, huge tradition, etc.
Nebraska doesn't have 2 of those.

Pollack was all over Paul for calling Gus pathetic too.
I think there's some hate in the room or they are doing the conflict thing for ratings. I agree with Pollack. frick Paul Finebaum and his Alabama (the state) following. Ridiculous.

I'm sure Lynn Swann will get it fixed with his long and successful track record.

USC pulled in the 2nd ranked recruiting class two years ago, and has had a top 10 class every year except for 1 since Pete Carroll left the program. Nebraska is fortunate when they end up with a top 25 class. They are definitely not on the same level.
