What is it about Bama, or what does he know, that we don't? IMO Bamas facilities aren't any better than LSU's, it's a push.

Bama's facilities and campus are distinctly nicer at this point.

It's about history. History is measured by number of conference championships over their history. Alabama is one of the historically strong football schools. They've won 29 conference championships. LSU has won 14.

It is about being all in. The two Bama schools probably have a majority of serious NCAA violations. The have a machine that runs the state and an even better one the runs recruiting and development of players, covering up crimes, etc. a starting player on a Bama team in contention could rape and murder 6 kids and they would cover it up, probably have. Dad needs a job, girlfriend a scold, no problem, need someone to disappear no problem, new car and 1000 bucks a week are nothing but child's play to them. They take care of everything.

No other school will ever be able to pull that off, they have been at it for 50 years. They are great at it. Hiring best coach, best of everything paying refs, etc are all just business as usual

If you actually believe any of that then you're the one who takes college football way too seriously.

Spurrier also said LSU and Georgia are the top two jobs in the SEC.

UGA has crap facilities.

quote:

“I think in some areas we’re right there on top of things. The indoor (practice facility) being built is going to be one of the best in the country, and also one of the newest,” Smart said. “But when it comes to places at the stadium right now we’re probably a little bit behind.” Among the issues is the Bulldogs’ home locker room located under the stands on the East Side of Sanford Stadium, which have been in use for decades. Fortunately, help is on the way there, too. Last week, the UGA Athletic Association approved $1 million to serve as an initial exploratory step that ultimately will result in a major enhancement to the West End Zone of the stadium that once completed will include a brand new spacious locker room. “I think everybody wants it happen because if you look at where our people dress and how long we’ve been there we think we can improve on it,” said Smart, who as a player in the late 1990s dressed in the same locker room that will be used this fall by his current team.

Does this post mean that LSU is waving the white flag and is now rebuilding for 2019?

They've got a name for winners in the world - They call Alabama the Crimson Tide

When Alabama was down, they still had seasons that would keep coaches around in most programs.

Those are all fair points, and very true. However I think they become irrelevant when your program falls into a shithole and stays there for several years and you're basically starting over.

Saban was hired at the end of the 2006 season.

In 2005 Alabama finished the season 10-2 with a New Year's day bowl win and a top 10 ranking - and that was their second 10 win season in the last 4 years.

The 'shaithole' Bama was in was a 'shaithole' only by Bama standards.

The answer is Auburn. Seriously. Without Auburn pushing them to excel Alabama would be more like LSU, the only big program in the state, so complacency would kick in.

He would have won 3 at LSU already as well. Probably a couple more than that had he stayed.

It is a machine, of doing it the right way. The bad years at Bama were a result of a zealous few, doing things wrong. If you believe what you posted, you are so full of hatred for Bama, you are delusional.

It's the entire culture on Alabama. Everything in that state revolves around that football team. There is no other place that compares to that.

It's successful but, very unhealthy.

This is complete nonsense.

I think most cfb fans would agree that Saban would have as many NC's as he has now..if he stayed at LSU.

Bama was going down a dark road before they hired Saban..one more Fran/Price/Dubose/Shula hire and the Bama program was going to take a long hiatus from respectability.

Very few high school kids know this stuff, and even fewer care.

Not true....nor is it true that resource wise the schools are equal. By that, I mean Bama is fully vested and committed to winning. It's a culture and commitment that has been built over a century.

Coach Saban's first press conference at LSU finihed and he started having second thoughts because of the questions being asked.

Coach Saban's press conference at Alabama you had grown men fighting to see who could be first in line to give him some head.

This is it in a nutshell. LSU has always had the great misfortune of having the New Orleans media and the New Orleans media has no loyalty. The Birmingham media does and will bend over backwards for the coach at Alabama.

Also, big time politics come into play at LSU and has been since the days of Huey Long. One wonders why Dietzel after winning a National Championship jumped to coach at another place.

But this Bama culture is not just at Alabama- go to USC and it is much the same. They might be down now, but they will be back because the boosters and money there demand it and with multiple Alumni worth 9 figures or better, they will get it.They just need a competent AD. Same goes for Notre Dame.

Maybe....maybe not. It is a different culture at LSU. Yeah te LSU boosters want to win, but they want their control. Bama, to its credit will give a coach total control. FRom Day 1 at Alabama because of Mal Moore going after him, Saban was the big dog and no one was going to tell him anything and then when he wins his first at Alabama in 2009, no one would DARE tell him anything. and after winning again in 2011 he was God.

In Baton Rouge in 2004, after having a 2 loss season and before the Dolphins came a courtin' he was starting to be put up with the B. S.
