Yeah, his show 15 years ago was fun in a local radio kind of way. I think it's a joke that they've allowed him to become the face of the SEC Network. He doesn't know a thing about the actual sport. He can tell you the politics of it and a 20,000 square foot perspective but that's it.

He made a fortune figuring out all he had to do was stir Alabama and Auburn fans against each other. He's a wave rider and he knows that nobody sill ever hold him accountable for his predictions/actions.

This is kind of like saying this:

The SECRant is not very good football discussion

I mean they're both true statements.

It just proves all you have to do it's get on the radio and tell Bama fans Bama is the GOAT, even in the down years, and you will get your share of that money handed out for Bama football.

You obviously didn't listen to Finebaum from 2000-2007 then. He was doing anything but trumpeting the program's greatness.

All Paul does is stir the pot and sit back and let the crazies call in and the crazy fans are what make his show entertaining, other than that Paul himself is not good.

No, just no filter for the dumbasses. These are the same conversations you hear from the redneck masses on the streets. He just put a mike in front of them.

How are the callers so damn bad? Isn't it very difficult to get thru to Finebaum? Do they not screen these people's questions first to at least see if they can put a coherent sentence together on live radio/tv?

That's exactly who they want calling in. Ratings.

It's a way for moronic, dumbass rednecks to have a voice about their biggest passion in life.

I can't listen to that shite though.

As a Birmingham native, I have to admit I quit listening to him after he went national. Personally, there was nothing better than 3 hours of Auburn/Alabama football talk every day. Didn't matter if it was February, April, June, or November. Usually if your team was down, you would tune him out. But if the other team was down, it was like a daily feast. I wish he had archives from like 1997 until 2006 - the Dubose/Francione/Mike Price/ Mike Shula years. The golden age of Finebaum. I hope the 'regulars' were compensated for their calls, because they are what made the show. Now he is relegated to talking about Missouri football, etc... He is just an ESPN shill.

Finebaum has said it numerous times, "it's all about entertainment". Point being, ratings, not quality. That he considers Legend a "great caller" says all you want to know bout the show. Legend is an ex con who served time for killing a man, murder reduced to manslaughter. His regulars have their own call in line & back in his radio days, they were given subjects to call about, shite stirrers basically. His ESPN radio affiliate cancelled his show here in B.R. after the first yr. To quote Finebaum:" the 3 yrs Alabama won those NC were the best 3 yrs of my life".

Agreed. Phyllis from Mulga, Shane from Centerpoint, Bobby from Homewood, Don from Downtown, Jim from Crestwood, Jim from Tuscaloosa, I-Man from Montgomery...those were the guys that made the show what it became.
