A lot of AU fans hope he is right

Unfortunately, he doesn't have the best track record of announcing timelines for AU problems

Eh. Pat Dye almost for sure knows things, but he is increasingly falling further out of the loop

He has no actual power in Auburn's AD and hasn't for awhile. Jay Jacobs may appear to be a bumbling idiot, but he has been able to shut out/push aside a lot of former powerful AU people like Pat Dye

So the bad things will

- not effect men's sports
- get Jay Jacobs fired

FYI, I was not on that bus of LSU fans, I said 9 wins, 10 if lucky. We are not going to be that lucky.

Well, yeah. And in almost 20,000 posts, I can't remember ever bringing Dye up by suggesting he's calling the shots down there.

You would be a fool if you did. Dye is allowed around the Athletic Dept and the Football Program because of JJ. Gus tolerates him (same with previous coaches) because of that relationship and the one with Jimmy Rane. He doesn't have any say so in the program anymore, especially after the BOT turnover the last few years. I was told Gus was not real happy with his comments about this years team being the "most talented in AU history".

There is no "bad things", just some bad PR. It will take it toll on JJ, mainly because there are some people who have been waiting for their chance to finally get him out the door.

Ya, JJ isn't some big Pat Dye fan. He just realized the easiest way to keep him bumbling arse out of the way is to let him hang around the complex + feel important.

Also, AU fans would crucify an AD that disrespected Pat Dye. I don't understand it, but quite a few AU fans care to hear what Dye says. Would be a bad look to make him feel unwelcome

At worst, Dye is just a minor nuisance to the HC. Things like this, head coaches know you just have to tolerate

Yea, even JJ is smart enough to know that making Dye feel wanted and part of the fambulah is much easier than kicking him out.

Pat him on the head, ask him for some "advice", move along.

there is probably some truth in that...........i loved tuberville, and one of the reasons is that he didn't toe the company line and allow the GOBS to dictate how he did things. Had he had the support that this overhyped OC that we have now has, we would have been in play for the big prize about every year. it just wore him down...tubs was a good dude, and don't believe anybody that says different

And wasn't Dye behind JJ getting the AD job? Seems like he was in his corner.

JJ is there because of his Dye connections. You have to remember JJ has worked at one location his entire career and got his start when Dye was the AU AD. Now at one point PD might have been a nuisance to the Athletic Dept, but when he spoke people listened. Not so much today with the Power Players, but he is someone you do not want to piss off.
