re: Film Study: Schottenheimer and the UGA Tight Ends

The run game & developing TE's shouldn't be a problem at all for Schottenheimer at UGA. Play action under him should really effective under him as well. It's difficult at times to have real football discussions amongst the trolling & flaming.

I don't get the Schottenheimer bashing. He really didn't have much to work with in terms of offensive talent with the Jets, Rams & Browns. He tried to make do with what was available on the ground & the utilization of the tight ends.

He also worked under 3 defensive minded head coaches in Rex Ryan, Jeff Fisher & Mike Pettine. He's probably thrilled to finally be working with an offensive minded head coach & I think the shackles come off for him now.

Just like his father, he relies heavily on play action. I'm interested to see how he does at Georgia because you guys probably have more talent on offense than any of his OC jobs in the NFL.

Oh he's going to throw to the backs out of the backfield as well. Nick Chubb has to be excited at the thought of getting the ball in space even more.

Sony and Marshall are even more excited than Chubb

Sony was used in the slot a lot today. He scored a TD in the slot early in the SC game last year.

Shaun fricking Hill.


Lol, it's so easy to scapegoat Schottenheimer on that one but cmon. He telegraphed that throw about as much as you can without yelling it out to the damn defense. Then he forces it in there seeing his receiver blanketed.


Again, Shaun Hill. The best offensive player on the field that day for the Rams was Tre Mason....

Same here but sadly they are hard to find at times. It's easy to find poorly written articles across the web though. There also should be more shows on television besides the constant blabbering about the same worn out topics over & over again. I don't know of any college shows that do breakdowns of the X's & O's but I know NFL Playbook & NFL Matchup does it on the pro level.

I don't think yall are getting it. It's about situational play calling when the games on the line, not about how shitty Hill and Britt are. He called a stupid pass play on 2nd down from the 4 yard line with 56 seconds left. He should have ran the ball on second down, seen what that got and then decided whether to run or pass on third down. After third down you still have a chance to kick a field goal on 4th down to tie. If you are going to call a pass play it better be on third down and a play that only your receiver or the sideline has a chance at.

What a crock of shite. Hill should have known better & simply should have thrown the ball away to live another down. Instead he forced a stupid throw into a high/low coverage that got picked off. Nobody made Hill make that throw. He could have looked at his second & third receivers in his progression. If those options weren't there, throw the ball into the damn first row.
