Make of this what you will.
Kirby Smart has not lost control because he never had control.

Word is first-year Georgia head coach Kirby Smart is struggling with his overall management style of the football program and its effect on the operational aspect of the team. The Bulldogs are 3-2, and though this is a rebuilding project where the Nick Saban disciple has an inexperienced true freshman QB, an underwhelming O-line and only one starter back in his front seven, this is an issue worth keeping eye on.

There's been a lot of rumors that the upperclassmen that are on the team have completely rebelled against what has been a tougher regime for them. Of the juniors that can't jump to the NFL, I wouldn't be surprised if they leave as a graduate transfer.

It's his first year on the job... first year in that position. I expect some bumps in the road. If he's still having in year 3 then I'll be worried and I'll start contemplating who our AD might hire to replace him. We'll likely have a mass exodus of upperclassmen after this season because a lot of them apparently think he's "mean". We're fricking soft, and it takes time to turn that around.

He's coached 5 games. Is this where we are now in college football?

1. That's pretty vague and definitely doesn't get written if that Hail Mary falls incomplete.
2. Our upperclassmen are soft, have been soft, and most of them have now lost their jobs. I would expect some blowback.

And is 3-2, 1-2 vs Top 20 teams.

So Feldman is essentially saying Smart isn't a sunday school teacher like richt and some of the upperclassmen dont appreciate having to work so hard. Was it an issue when we shut down the very guy who Feldman is praising before he wrote that?

It was always going to be a gamble to hire a Saban DC to run a program as big as UGA. We all know Saban pulls those puppet strings.

Better than last year.

Saban disciple or not, I'm still very surprised UGA went with Smart without any HC experience. Seems like UGA would have wanted someone with a proven track record at that position. Not an unknown. Just seems very Tennessee of them.

Saban cleaned house when he came to Alabama.
Lots of upper classman couldn't take the bigger expectations.

I meant it as a positive, especially compared to the notion that his tenure is off to some sort of disastrous start.

So he's a first year coach with a first year QB and we have lost to the two teams on our schedule more talented than us.
If someone had had written that as a preseason forecast of our first 5 games, no one would bat an eye. Yet here we are. Seems like fans of other programs seem to be very concerned while us UGA folk aren't sweating it.
