NWA is really nice IMO and it's crazy to see how busy it is getting now.

NWA is nice enough but these rankings crack me up. It's the U.S. for Christ's sake. They are arguing over who has the best traffic jams and strip malls

It is a nice place. That whole northwest Arkansas area.

Whoever put that gallery together tried to find the weakest photos they could. I could put up a better gallery of Fayetteville with my cell phone today.

I love Fayetteville, but those of us in Benton County would recommend this area as well as a great place to live. Many great neighborhoods in NWA.

Keep shopping at amazon, watch Fayetteville plummet down the rankings.

As the metro expands there's going to be a fight about who gets naming rights to the metro. Based on flying a ridiculous amount out of XNA, airports seems to be pretty evenly split between calling XNA: Bentonville, Fayetteville, and Northwest Arkansas.

Sucks a bit when searching through the flight status monitors at airports and having to go through the whole list to find my flight.

I love going to Austin to visit but there is no way it's the best place to live in the US. The lack of light rail that can serve more than a couple burbs and downtown, pitiful bus system, and horribly laid out highway system that is woefully over capacity would make living there a massive pain in the arse.

People in California think San Jose is the armpit of the state. HAve you ever been there? That place sux and has a lot of violent crime. Any list that has San Jose that high is crap. Also, the list has Des Moines Iowa at number 9. Are you serious? US News must not sell very many magazines in Des Moines, Iowa and they are trying to get more readers there. Washington DC???? REally? too much crime. too much cost of living. not a great place to live at all. Lived there before. Will never live there again. What a BS list.

Oh, and btw, y'all stay away from Fairhope, AL. That place is a dump. Don't even visit. Too many cars already. Plus, we have cockroaches, alligators, and mosquito birds of prey. Move to Fayetville instead. All y'all. Please.

The ranking is based on the metropolitan area.

No doubt, Bentonville has become really cool in a really short time. In five years, it will probably outpace Fayetteville as far as cool stuff happening. I don't doubt that at all. Too much money and too many awesome projects happening. Specialized Real Estate is doing a project east of downtown, and the whole "The Plant" / Brightwater Culinary Institute neighborhood will be a real draw in a couple of years.

Once they build their performing arts center in Bentonville, it'll be over. Bentonville will have a cooler vibe.

Downtown Rogers is far ahead of where it was just 5 years ago. It's pretty hip as well.
