Known as a recruiter. And solid talent developer. Has amazing facilities at his disposal. Good talent base to recruit from. What should Alabama look like in five years? Another Jim Wells era or same old regional and done?

He's a Cohen disciple like Butch Thompson at Auburn and Nick Mingione at Kentucky. Based on those two he will do well.

Hiring first year head coaches who were good assistants is 50/50.

The big key I always look for is can he sell the program to fans around the state....if he can get them to buy in, he can get recruits to buy in.

Bama had to take a chance. That's why it is 50/50, hence a chance.

I think you will know after the first year even if it doesn't go well either way.

Honest take

Most of the SEC has head coaches that were hired from assistant positions. Only LSU fired a head coach from another major program.

Mississippi State did pretty well with John Cohen after hiring him from Kentucky.

That isn't true. Some were coaching just at smaller schools to see how they could handle being in charge.

You asked for honesty, and I was.

It's a 50/50 thing every time. For every Smoke Lavall, you have an Andy C for MSU.

ETA: I wasn't talking hiring from major programs. I meant career assistants

Like I said, y'all will be able to tell one year in regardless of the results.

Year one isn't fair for Bohannon. Gaspard quit recruiting. And Goff blew it up. The roster is in awful shape. I'm looking at year three.

I think it was a smart hire. I also think in 5 years Alabama will challenge for the SEC title, theyll finally be back as a solid team. They have been so bad for so long now it's a shame

Bad? Maybe. Inconsistent for sure. Haven't been to a regional since 2015. Haven't been to a super regional since 2010. Haven't hosted a regional or super regional since 2006.

I said regardless of results. I meant more enthusiasm, fundamentals, plate approach, base running, and other things.

Are you drunk? You don't seem to understand what I've been saying.

Please tell me it isn't a blow relapse...

Hell, he's already ramped up the enthusiasm and cohesiveness. Goff was a human Katrina. We had to cancel summer baseball camps because Bo just hasn't had the time to clean up the mess he was left and put on a respectable camp. Instead of half-assing it, the decision was made to cancel and start over in the fall. Good call IMHO. That will give him some time to get things in order and figure out what he's got.

Surprised we finished top 15 in attendance. Would be nice to be able to really have a competitive team and pack the Joe. Baseball games were fun to attend growing up.
