What would you all think if Peyton Manning was the head coach at UT next year?

I would think that he made a huge mistake and is exhibiting a problem in sound decision making.

This topic has never ever been discussed by Vol fans. What a novel idea!

Forgetting there is zero reason why he would want to take on that many hours of work at this point in life

Can he coach?

Great players do not always make great coaches.

I do think when he was playing he was the best OC in the league.

He's going to be the next Senator, taking Bob Corker's seat.

Worst idea possible. Never been a coach.

QB coach, yes. Head coach? No.

I think that watching Tennessee wrestle with having to fire an unsuccessful Peyton Manning would be the greatest reality show of my life.

And this is why some of my UT friends don't want Peyton as coach.

It's an incredibly rational reason. Obviously the whole thing is a giant hypothetical, but considering you have no idea if he can coach the downside is you have to hate him and want him fired if he fails.

Anybody who has had a "favorite" player return to be AD/Coach/etc and see them be terrible at it knows how much that sucks. It's kills off at least some part of their luster.

Here's something more interesting to think about: What if, one day, you had to fire Peyton Manning? Can you imagine a UT AD having to do that? Its always a possibility.
