Explain why you would pull for another conference team over an SEC team. I'm a LSU fan but I pull for every SEC team playing a non-conference team every time. Every SEC victory is like a small win for every SEC team.

Because I'm an LSU fan, not an SEC fan.

i'm of the same thought as you... it makes no sense to want other teams in the conference to lose to OOC teams. all it does is make us look like weak on the national stage. Bama beating LSU doesnt look nearly as impressive a feat if LSU goes and gets shellacked by a tier 2 B1G team in their bowl game...

Because who you pull for doesn't impact the outcome of the game?

Two reasons:

1) Something bad for a rival is generally good for my team
2) schadenfreude

Agreed. However, I'll have to admit I never rooted for the tsips, Baylol, or tech when we played in the Big 12. Right now I'm hoping Bama or UGA gets a chance to play and win the Natty.

I know LSU doesn't have any rivals, but is it really hard to comprehend why I would root against Florida?

I do understand if you have a bet on another team....To the man who says he is an LSU fan, it makes LSU look stronger when a team they played WINS.

I think all SEC teams benefit by the "brand" being as strong as possible.

With that said, arguments can be made for rooting against in-state teams/rivals, no matter what conference they are in. Does Auburn benefit from Bama being a powerhouse? Heck no. Why should Auburn want Bama to win championships, if their primary concern is Auburn, and Auburn's recruiting?

I don't dislike any SEC team enough (yet) to root against them in bowl games, but I can't promise the day will never come. If we lose some head to head recruiting battles with say LSU this February, is it really smart to want them to win as many OOC/bowl games as possible?

I'm a State fan. To hell with the rest of the SEC. I grew up going for a team, not a conference.

And frick you
