He's not overly big and he's got average speed. He is a pretty good blocker and has nice hands, but plays in an extremely simple offensive system. It's likely going to take him about 2 years to understand NFL route concepts. What I honestly see is a 3rd or 4th round project that has upside to be a decent #2 WR in an offense. This number 1 WR in the draft and top 10 pick madness is ridiculous.

Before everyone goes crazy, let me remind you of another 6 ft 2 in, 220 lb Ole Miss WR- Donte Moncrief was drafted in the 3rd round pick #90 by the Colts. Thru 2 seasons, Donte has 96 catches for 1177 yards and 9 tds on 12.3 yards per catch. In a high octane passing offense, Moncrief has been pretty pedestrian likely due to him having to learn an NFL system coming from Ole Miss's simplistic scheme. Moncrief also has crazy athleticism to fall back on. He ran a 4.4 in the 40, had a 39.5 inch Vert and an 11 foot Broad Jump at the NFL Combine. I don't see Treadwell even coming close to any of those numbers.

Let's compare College Stats now. Both WR's played 3 years:

Yards: LT- 2393 to DM- 2371
Receptions: LT- 212 to DM- 156
Yards Per Re: LT- 11.3 to DM- 15.2
TD's: LT-21 to DM: 20
Longest Reception: LT-63 to DM- 77, 75, 67

Also, here is a direct quote from Hugh Freeze.

quote:

Laquon Treadwell is just as good as Moncrief

So how exactly is being just as good as Moncrief equal being a top 10 pick when Moncrief was the 90th? The hype is just unreal for Treadwell and it doesn't make much football sense at all.

Someone could purchase Mississippi State for less money than we paid Treadwell to come play for us.

He has great hands, runs great routes and is an A++ blocker. He has had 0 off the field problems and is extremely marketable. He will go late in the first most likely because he won't run a sub 4.5 40 time. Only like 3 WR have have gone first round running above a 4.5 since 2010 and have been picked after pick 20 but he will be a freak NFL WR.

UF made him quit. Plus, he's just kind of a quitter.

It's not 2012 and your jokes are terrible. Maybe if he didn't break everything in his leg and come back to be a Bilitnikof (sp) finalist it would be funny.

Your threads are sad. The dude is a beast. That's why. Calvin Johnson wasn't exactly godly throughout his college career on paper either.

Stats don't necessarily tell the whole picture. Treadwell has the intangibles and highlight film to warrant being picked very high. There are certainly other extremely talented receivers in the class but he'd be my first choice, personally.

Treadwell didn't have godly stats by any means, but the man caught three touchdowns in a game three days ago

Calvin Johnson is 6 ft 5 and he ran a 4.3 forty. His college stats greatly exceeded Laquan's and he played in a fricking wishbone offense or whatever the hell they do at GT. 28 TD's and almost 3000 yards in 3 years. LOL.

Nick Saban wants you to call him at your convenience so you can help him crack this extremely simple offensive system.

Sorry, but if you have watched Treadwell play and still can't see the raw talent and great instincts (he has a knack for moving at the exact right moment to get the ball) then you might want to put your plan to become an NFL scout on indefinite hold. The kid's good. I'm not saying he'll be a Pro Bowler off the bat (and perhaps never) but he's definitely got the tools.

Our offensive system is so easy under freeze, even a state DC can figure it out, right?
