In a nutshell, the two options:

1) The 1860, putting the Confederacy back together option

2) The 2012 modern politics (yes, map is from 2008) option

1860 or stay as is.

I don't think Oklahoma is in play. We won't get Oklahoma unless we take Oklahoma State and the SEC probably doesn't want both.

FWIW, I'd love North Carolina...but I don't see that happening either.

I would love NC State and VT... those would be my top two choices.

I'm for the Confederacy Option. Then, kick the shiite out of Yankees for the Title.

I agree. UNC and UVA would be my top two choices, with NC State and VaTech acceptable substitutes. Plus, Florida needs at least one blue state to keep them company!

Not sure we would raid the Big XII for Okie Lite and WVU, now that we're friends and have that Sugar Bowl deal and all that.

Either the ACC implodes/becomes the old Big East or we sit tight.

Agree on that order:

1) UNC, UVA
2) NCSU, VT

UNC and UVA add great basketball inventory to future SEC Network. UVA has strong baseball program.

SEC schools should form up research consortium to compete with Big 10 CIC. UNC & UVA add 2 more AAU schools to the consortium.

Double win - Sports $$ and Research $$

UNC will never leave the ACC... doubt UVA will either.

Word around is that South Carolina wanted NC State before Missouri was taken. If the SEC gets into Virginia and North Carolina it is Millions of TV sets for the SEC Network.

Agree that UNC and UVA won't lead the charge to implode the ACC. It is going to come down to what the other "football" schools in the ACC choose to do.

If Clemson, FSU, and/or GT decide to jump ship, the ACC is not viable at all. UNC and UVA will have to make a move.

The ACC is in even worse shape as it is now obvious that the NCAA is going to hammer Miami in a big way. I think Miami has destroyed any possibility they had of moving anywhere else. I am sure they are praying that the ACC does not implode.

It's odd a SCar fan would be so against expansion, considering you wouldn't be here without it

UNC has been to Omaha more times than UVA. But I agree with everything else you said.

Checked out the link. Looks like the consortium was founded with the idea of paralleling the CIC. Doesn't appear to have much momentum at this point. CIC has a 50 year head start so maybe this is what it looked like at the beginning.

Even better. More quality baseball inventory.
