The Dubose-Price-Fran-Shula-Jetgate-Tubs years were the golden era of Finebaum radio.

I mean heck, Pat Dye doesn't even come on anymore. Is Craneworks even a sponsor now? What's the point?

Find it hilarious ESPN thinks they discovered this hidden gem with stuff like Phyllis.

That was roughly the 84th angriest call from Phyllis. In the last 5 years.

I listened in college during the Shula days and it was pure comedic gold. The guests he used to have by themselves were worth a listen.

It was a lot better before it went national. It seems like he screens 205, 334, & 256 calls now to try and make it feel like more people in the country give a shite.

Very really, at least if you were driving around for 20 minutes in the afternoon in the state of Alabama.

I never understand why they wanted it to be bigger than that other than money.

Today's Finebaum is garbage compared to the old days of Dye and Stallings. The coaches came on the show, they talked a lot. Those are classics. Today's coaches (from the state of Alabama anyway) don't do any of that.

I think the whole Camgate brought it down with the insinuations and irresponsible callers. Finebaum didn't really jump on that wagon, but he allowed others to do so . . . and that, in my opinion, was just as bad.

I haven't been able to listen to it for more than 5-10 minutes over the last few years without switching channels. Then again, I really stopped listening to talk radio / sports radio altogether. The glory days of personable people are gone, it is all big business now.

The best caller he ever had stopped calling in. Jim from Crestwood.

It really did used to be hilarious when he had Neal Vickers as a sidekick and Bobby from Homewood as a regular caller. I would literally be rolling on the ground laughing. Now you just have a bunch of callers who think they are celebrities but bring little or nothing to the show like I-Man and Jim from Tuscaloosa

Oh yeah, I almost forgot Mildred from Tuscaloosa and her stories of having sex with Bear Bryant. She might have been the best caller in the history of any radio show

My gosh - I'm still convinced that was a real person but those are the funniest calls I have ever heard in my life.

But yea, Vickers was hysterical. It was just a little ole state of Alabama show and it was funny. That type of thing doesn't work nationally or even regionally.

Remembering back on Mildred. Claimed to be 90 year old lady. Bryant used to make her holler! Pat Dye had a small penis and stinky poo. Daughter was a lesbian, showed her lesbian videos. When she would call in in the summer, she claimed to not wear panties. One day the dog licked her and got a fungus. Every husband would die from being oversexed. It goes on and on.

That's like saying I don't see why people eat other than to stay alive. That's the whole damn point.
