He was the player that suffered a spinal injury in yesterday's game, and I believe he is having surgery today in Athens.

He was moving a pretty good bit right after the play. Hopefully it's mostly swelling. A little prednisone and he'll be alright.
Prayers sent.

Prayers sent. I knew there was a problem when I saw one of our trainers pinning his helmet to the ground with his hands.

I will keep him in my prayers... Keeping him in our "thoughts" won't do any good

Yep... Such a great game, but unfortunately things like this are inevitable. Prayers to the kid, hopefully he fully recovers.

Unfortunately felt like this was a matter of time when these much smaller teams play these bigger, faster teams for money..prayers for the kid

While I don't disagree with the premise, he hurt his spine due to bad technique while trying to block the kicker. Considering I have seen this same crap technique across all levels of football, it is really just an inevitability of circumstances. I don't know how to make sure the players stop this "head down" mentality of tackling, and I am loathe to entrust any responsibility to SEc officials, but maybe having the SEC office review every game and retroactively suspending players they see trying to block /tackle in this fashion for a half of the next game or fining the schools for each incidence- at least that way, the coaches would have an incentive to keep players that keep doing it off the field until they figure out the better way to tackle.

This is a common misconception. Players don't get hurt anymore or any less when fbs schools play FCS schools. That injury could of happened at any level of play. I.e. Eric LaGrange
