Overlooking an opponent is a coach's worst nightmare and not something that can be easily guarded against.

Be aware of every SEC team's potential hiccup game in 2017:

quote:

Missouri (vs. Purdue, Sept. 16)

Mizzou welcomes the Boilermakers to Columbia sandwiched between SEC home games against South Carolina and Auburn. Purdue lost nine games last season, but should have a re-energized and exciting offense in 2017 under new head coach Jeff Brohm, a disciple of the Air Raid.

quote:

Vanderbilt (vs. Kansas State, Sept. 16)

The commodores battle quarterback Jesse Ertz and the Wildcats in Week 3, a game that will have major bowl implications for a team trying to get back to the postseason. Kansas State's a veteran-laced Big 12 title contender, so it won't be easy.

quote:

Kentucky (at Mississippi St., Oct. 21)

The Wildcats luckily get an extra week of preparation thanks to a bye, but heading into Cowbell Central will be a challenge.

quote:

Mississippi St. (vs. BYU, Oct. 14)

The Cougars make the long trip to Starkville but don't have the luxury of a bye week beforehand (like the Bulldogs). Nonetheless, this a program that's won at least eight games for six consecutive seasons.

quote:

Ole Miss (at California, Sept. 16)

Before the Shea Patterson Show takes on Alabama in Tuscaloosa, the Rebels will first have to deal with the Golden Bears after starting the season with convincing wins over South Alabama and UT Martin. The first road game for the heralded QB may be treacherous.

quote:

Arkansas (vs. TCU, Sept. 9)

There's no breaks in the 2017 schedule for Arkansas and it's SEC warm-up against TCU at home should be a contested affair. Former Texas A&M QB Kenny Hill will try and get his swagger back against an SEC opponent after failing in the Horned Frogs' bowl game (vs. Georgia).

quote:

Texas A&M (vs. South Carolina, Sept. 30)

The Gamecocks didn't have a reliable quarterback when these teams met last season in Columbia, but this year's team is considered an SEC East darkhorse thanks to the talent returning on that side of the football.

quote:

South Carolina (vs. N.C. State (in Charlotte, N.C.), Sept. 2)

The Gamecocks have won 11 of their last 12 season openers including two of those victories coming against the Wolfpack, but N.C. State's 2017 team will be one of the most talented South Carolina will face. Vegas installed Dave Doeren's squad as a 7-point favorite over the Gamecocks last week.

quote:

Florida (vs. Vanderbilt, Sept. 30)

The Gators are not winning a third straight SEC East title with a loss to the Commodores, so this one's essential. Last year's game in Nashville was a slugfest and don't expect this one to be any different.

quote:

Auburn (vs. Ole Miss, Oct. 7)

The Tigers will need to be near-perfect down the stretch for the season-ending Iron Bowl to have meaning. And a potentially challenging home game may come down to the wire.

quote:

Georgia (vs. Missouri, Oct. 14)

Homecoming for the Bulldogs and it comes before a showdown in Jacksonville against the Gators.

quote:

LSU (at Ole Miss, Oct. 21)

The Rebels will be able to test LSU's secondary with what's expected to be an elite passing attack and benefit from playing the Tigers a week before Alabama. Ed Orgeron's bunch can't get caught looking ahead.

quote:

Tennessee (at Missouri, Nov. 11)

By most accounts, Mizzou will likely finish toward the bottom of the division in 2017 but managed to embarrass the Vols last season with more than 600 yards of total offense inside Neyland Stadium. Tennessee's defense will need to find its pulse on the road.

quote:

Alabama (at Mississippi St., Nov. 11)

Bulldogs QB Nick Fitzgerald is getting a ton of buzz during the preseason and many believe he could challenge a speedy and athletic Alabama defense. Coming off a physical game against LSU, the Crimson Tide could be a step slower.

If NC State is only a 7 point favorite over us and this NC State team in particular is "one of the most talented South Carolina will face" then el oh fricking el at NC State.

Our most dangerous game is gonna be the first game of the playoffs. Orgeron will be leading a talented group of young men back to the promised land and it will be tough as our players are used to the losing ways of Miles.

I have faith that Oregeron will implement a winning culture. His first real test as a coach will be that first playoff game. Can't wait.

We've had the SEC's top passing offense the last two seasons.

We're going to pass a lot this season as well.

I'm not sure that I would be so cocky in defending our passing O. Not saying we'll beat you...but we'll be able pass on you.

So the week of October 28th is being cancelled this year? LSU plays Ole Miss on 10/21 and Bama on 11/4. This will be the same problem for LSU on Sept 2nd against BYU.

How is it not Georgia Tech for Tennessee? First game of the season with a completely inexperienced QB and OC. Complete coaching staff overhaul, replacing some very productive players with unknowns. It is in Atlanta and our defense that was historically bad to end the season is facing a very competent triple option team.

Or just list Alabama since we will get murdered, again.

Bye week? He's saying bye week is our most dangerous game? I'm going to go out on a limb right now and guarantee that we will not lose to bye week.

Oh, never mind. Just clicked the link. It's Bama Online. No wonder it's so full of shite. Apparently they're really impressed with Ole Miss for some reason.
