Watching consecutive documentary's on ESPN about Central of Tuscaloosa High School and Rush Prost. I am sure Roll Tide/War Eagle is somewhere on the schedule. I am not sure if this is a intentional effort by the Network to put the state of Alabama in a bad light, but the rest of the country has to be shaking their heads.

Worst documentary ever, and I say that as someone who doesn't care about either team.

ESPN and Wright Thompson should be ashamed of themselves. They dumbed a century-old rivalry down to Updyke, Finebaum and Cam.

Then switch the god damn channel and watch some football on NFL Network. Jesus I know you love to follow Alabama and all, but you'd watch ESPN documentaries over football?

I'd like to disagree.

But I can't.

The War Eagle/otherthing they did was the worst one I have seen. You would think we started playing five years ago watching it. Swung and missed what the rivalry is about on just about every front.

This. No Punt Bama Punt or anything about the actual history of the rivalry beyond "hey, we named it for the iron forges in Birmingham." The only good thing it gave us was the following gif:

Completely agree.

And glad to see it's obvious to some outside/objective fans as well.

Agreed. It's a top 5 rivalry of any sport in America and they devote the entire documentary to a bunch of insignificant fans instead of the game itself. That is the problem with national media coverage of the south. The big population centers in the northeast, midwest, and west coast want to be entertained by the lowest 5% of the southern population, so that is what the media gives them. Therefore all the shows about the south show inaccurate portrayals of it.

In today's world of rampant obsession with not offending anyone for fear of hurting feelings, it's awfully funny that making fun of Southerners and the South in general is accepted, if not encouraged.

Which was the purpose of my post. It showed the poverty and inequality of life in a Southern town. How even in the 21st Century, your entire future depends on which side of the track you live on. How football success allowed a community to turn a blind eye to morals. Both documentary's had an underlining theme of hypocrisy and ignorance that is used to depict the "southern man". RT/WE is a continuation of that theme.

When it comes to college football, ESPN hardly covers anyone other then Alabama and Auburn, so it's funny you'd think they're out to get you.

The ESPN documentaries are a neat idea, but they're really not done that well, imo. Much of the information in them is just plain wrong.

Yep, it's funny that the group that has been here the longest, built this country from nothing, fought in every war, worked their asses off, is the only group that it's ok to wrongly stereotype and paint false pictures with broad brush strokes.
