FPI is an estimate of team strength – not a ranking of who will have the highest win total (which is dependent on schedule) and not who is most likely to make the College Football Playoff. Preseason FPI is calculated using three major components for each FBS team: prior years’ offense, defense and special teams efficiencies; returning starters and head coach information; and recruiting rankings.

Last season, the top three teams in Preseason FPI (Florida State, Oregon and Alabama) made the inaugural College Football Playoff.

So Bama and LSU playoff locks?

FPI and the metrics have their holes but generally they are in line on average.

Probably just the winner of that game.

Auburn will be in the mix if they can beat either of them, too.

They pretty clearly note it isn't a one-game gambling metric. It's an overall "team strength" metric. Certain one game matchups have specific matchups that wouldn't be brought into play with an overall ranking.

If you are using the RPI of F+ to pick an individual game then that's on you.

Best Backfield,WRS,Oline, and DBs in the league. Any kind of QB production puts LSU in contention

I'll take WILCO and Arky's o-line over any other group out there. But yeah, LSU is good there as well.
