Jerry Jones had to have lost on the Southwest Classic this weekend? The guaranteed payouts to A&M and Arkansas had to have been way more than ticket sales brought in this past Saturday.

Looking at way less than full stadiums all over the place so far this year.

College football needs to go to 11 game season with 2 byes, Power 5 scheduling only and 8 or 16 team playoff with home games until the Semi-Final or Championship game.

The cost to attend has gotten too high and TV experience too good to have so many home games, half of which aren't any good.

Which is ironic considering the TV contracts only allowed the salaries to skyrocket....hence, charging fans even more.

They jumped the gun a bit with all the massive stadium expansions the past few years.

I think you are about to see coaches salaries hit their ceiling.

I'm so glad Ole Miss couldn't or didn't ever expand beyond 65k...Even with the massive growth of Oxford and University, we are right where we need to be long-term.

People just aren't going to games as often. TV has gotten too good and people's schedules are busier than ever.

Crappy programs that have always been crappy have problems filling seats?

Color me shocked

7 teams last year averaged over 100k a game.

It can be done if you arent garbage.

The luster has worn off of Jerryworld. It is still a great stadium, but no one goes to experience the stadium anymore. Most Aggies I know are sick of having a neutral site with Arkansas. We already pay enough for season tickets at Kyle. The atmosphere, tailgating, etc is better at home. This deal was made long before A&M was in the SEC and suppose to be our long-term answer for an OOC rivalry game.

Speaking more in general, the demand for big games is still there. But in order to get to a big game, you need season tickets or willing to pay an arm and a leg on the secondary market. So people buy up games that don't interest them or don't care about. The price to see Nicholls & Alabama are the same for season ticket holders. It seems athletic departments don't care as long as they're selling tickets.

I don't think the goal of 125 programs is to average over 100k.

6 team playoff.
1-2 get bye
3-6 4-5 round one at 3-4 home
Then play semi using Bows like now.
Then Bama plays someone for championship.

Ummm

There are not 125 teams with stadiums that hold 100k so your point is worthless

Here is the official list though

I do think you need to reward 1 and 2 for a stellar season and give byes.

I like the 6 Team idea. 3-6 play a week or 10 days after Conference Champ games

You still wont fill up games with this. no one wants to make last minute traveling decisions around holiday time.

\ETA, I think my season tickets, with donation, have only risen like $75 in the last 10 years, so meh...

It's a good thing for consumers. Instead of concentrating on size, they will have to focus on comfort for fans.

The A&M/Arky game at JerryWorld has NEVER sold out.

It's b/c the price gouging for that game is horseshite. You pay NYD bowl prices for tickets, official stadium parking is very high, the food and drink out there is outrageously expensive for what it is, and Arlington is a shitty location for the game b/c there is zero public transportation for the long trek out there and pretty much nothing around the stadium is worth going to other than Six Flags. It does not help that JerryWorld is as sterile of an environment as you can get.

If A&M/Arky was home and home it would be a sellout pretty much every year.

They really need to make the experience feel less like you are getting cut off from the rest of the world for 3.5 to 4 hours.

That just doesn't cut it these days. You go to a home game nowadays and you have no clue what else happened in the rest of the college football world.

Hopefully people will get smart and realize Pro Sports are full of narcissistic people who are weak in their every day life. Most cannot manage their own finances!!!!!
