Former Alabama CB doesn’t like team’s draft pick
The Cincinnati Bengals surprised some people when they took Houston cornerback William Jackson III with the No. 24 pick in Thursday night’s first round of the 2016 NFL Draft after many had believe they’d either select a wide receiver, linebacker or defensive lineman.
One of those who were a bit taken back from the move was former Alabama corner Dre Kirkpatrick, who found his way onto the starting lineup as the team’s left corner alongside Adam “Pacman” Jones in 2015. Moments after Cincinnati announced its pick, Kirkpatrick tweeted out his displeasure:
Although Kirkpatrick had good moments during his first season as a full-time starter, he was mostly inconsistent and finished the year with 63 tackles, 16 pass deflections and no interceptions.
It’s now a contract year for Kirkpatrick, who had his fifth-year option exercised last spring. He’ll be hoping to prove in 2016 that he’s worthy of receiving an extension with Cincinnati. And if not, the Bengals have a solid backup plan (and great depth) with the addition of Jackson.
“Will has exceptional speed,” Cincinnati defensive backs coach Kevin Coyle told ESPN, referring to Jackson’s 4.37 40-yard time at the combine. “He’s really, really fast. One of the things that impressed us was his ability to track the ball, as well as his speed. He’s not just a fast guy that can run and beat people down the field, he gets his hands on a ton of balls.”
It didn’t take Kirkpatrick long to rescind his negative comment and welcome the newcomer to the jungle. Either he quickly realized that the Bengals took a high-value pick due to the departure of Leon Hall and Reggie Nelson, and that Pacman Jones turns 33 in September, or someone shot him a text and told him to make up for the tweet.

Damn Kirk, if you're upset, do something on the field to prevent it, don't whine about it.
I am disappoint

Despite the article, Dre wasn't a bad player last year...

Yea, he should probably start playing more consistently then.

Which is more likely:
1) The Bengals drafted the replacement of their 26 year old former first rounder who they picked up the option on and are paying $7M+ to in 2016,
OR
2) The bengals drafted a corner b/c they lost Leon Hall and Pacman Jones is 33 and deteriorating in skill (as well as loses his mind at inopportune times)
I know what you WANT it to be, but which is most likely? Thanks.

"he gets his hands on a ton of balls" as a bama grad the idea of him joining the team should be appealing

Meh
This seems like the popular way for players in the NFL to act now. Rather than man up and earn their money, they bitch about another player challenging them.

Maybe Dre was thinking the team needed a wr, dl or lb like the so called experts said they needed and was disappointed that they chose db instead...but to do an article with the headline former bama cb doesn't like teams draft pick leads to the assumption by some that he didn't like pick because of job security or competition...guess some people see glass half full while others see glass half empty...and others just don't read the entire article

All these whiners keeping whining about their replacements. Their whining for the same reason they can't get the job done: their soft. Win the job on the field.

Be better? I am so sick of these butch players complaining about competition ha. What happens if you go down? We are supposed to just suck because you didn't want a guy who was as good as you?

Dre is freaking idiot they're replacing Pacman not him.
