F. King Alexander said LSU needed to know if they were going to host by Wednesday night, in order to get Tiger Stadium ready, police lined up, etc. Perfectly understandable.

UF didn't know until early Friday morning they had missed the worst of the hurricane. They got lucky by about 10 miles, yet somehow they were supposed to get BHG ready for play by Sunday or Monday? Double standard???

This whole "we were willing to play Sunday or Monday" line is a complete lie and LSU's AD knows it. They knew full well UF could not get things lined up in that short amount of time.

The true double standard is LSU fans expecting Florida to have 3 straight road games and then they bitch about having 3 straight road games. Not to mention LSU would then host this game 3 straight years if their scenario came to fruition. Short-sighted LSU fans are.

Except Wednesday night to Saturday night is 72 hours... LSU proved last year that's all it needed to host a short notice game.
Friday night to Monday night is.... right. 72 hours.

They, UF, should have had contingencies in place long before deciding to outright cancel the game on Thursday. They could have also decided to hold off until Friday before cancelling the game.

I believe the problem most people have is a tentative contingency could have been worked on starting Wednesday.

Foley insisted on there being no other options but 11am in Gainseville on Saturday.

bullshite. Florida had multiple solutions laied out in front of them but balked the whole time. Did not want to play. Did not want to lose. Simple as that.

I don't know how you let people know THE DAY BEFORE that the game isn't happening. Most people plan on driving in Friday and all... that would seem wrong? It also gives you time to cancel your hotel if you do it Thursday since most hotels require 24 hour notice. Just my 2 cents on that.

You fricking act like playing in Baton Rouge was the only plan presented by LSU. We offered to play in multiple locations in the event that we couldn't play in Gaynesville

Right, because I'm sure the state police would be cool with that. Come on, man.

That's why they have these called plans that are thought out way ahead of time

This would be a solid argument if EVERY OTHER SCHOOL IN FLORIDA hadn't made contingencies/played their games as scheduled.

The posturing going on Wednesday/Thursday and after - from both sides - has been worthy of the presidential campaigns.

Oh, you mean like last year when you couldn't push a game back one day? LINK

quote:

"Tomorrow is really not an option," Alleva said. "McNeese had to go home. They didn't have a hotel. They would have had to go home and come back. We just felt like it was not an option to play tomorrow. It would be logistically, very, not difficult, but almost impossible for our staff to get the stadium ready to play."

LSU couldn't provide McNeese with accommodations overnight?
