I'm a huge fan of College sports in general, but I'm concerned about their strong arm tactics in pushing social policies or threatening states.

This weekend the NFL threatened Tx.

LINK

quote:

“The NFL embraces inclusiveness. We want all fans to feel welcomed at our events and NFL policies prohibit discrimination based on age, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, or any other improper standard,” league spokesman Brian McCarthy said in a statement. “If a proposal that is discriminatory or inconsistent with our values were to become law [in Texas], that would certainly be a factor considered when thinking about awarding future events.”

quote:

But opponents of the legislation, modeled on the controversial HB 2 law passed in North Carolina last year, say the NFL’s threat is just the tip of the iceberg. Several sports leagues, including the Atlantic Coast Conference, the NBA and the NCAA, pulled events out of North Carolina after its law passed last year, and a number of businesses said they would cancel or reevaluate decisions to move operations or build facilities in North Carolina.

How do the decisions by the NCAA/SEC/NFL effect your wallet?

When they set prices to events I am going to attend. That's about it.

Sometimes, principle is more important than sports or money. I would like to have peace of mind when I go to a sporting event that a dude won't be taking a dump next to my wife and six yr old daughter. Inclusivity of the very few, to spite the many. It's not a question of inclusivity at this point, it's about common f*cking decency. If your a dude, and you choose to wear a dress and a wig, that's a choice. Our daughters don't get to make that choice.

It has made me quit watching pro basketball and football other than the Cowboys. The Stars have jumped on the lefty band wagon a couple of weeks ago, so I am done with them.

Still got the good ole Texas Rangers though. And if/when Florida turns into Mizzou, I will be done with them too and go hunting and fishing. Maybe I will learn to like to watch people drive around in stock cars.

They are making a statement about their policies. If a state wants to pass laws that don't promote their views, they will take that into account when choosing event locations. Don't pass laws that intentionally single out groups of people. It's 2017. Uncool brah.

Wow this will ruin the NFL brand, they best to put a halt to this and quickly! This can work either way and hurt all teams profits.

It's just the tip of the iceberg. They are going to threaten our entertainment to mold government policy. It starts with this law, but they'll find plenty of other laws, flags, statues, symbols, mascots, building names, monuments, landmarks, etc. to feign injustice over to sway political thought while holding sports hostage.

Don't watch or give a shite about the Grammy's? We'll find something you do give a shite about.

They made a threat.

Then maybe it's time to form other organizations that don't care about social engineering.

Don't pass laws that intentionally single out groups of people.

I believe they reacted to laws and regulations placed on them.

Immigration laws single out groups of people, specifically non-citizens. Some feel that knowing who comes in and out of the country is important, however.

Well here is the thing about that. I think there are some of the powers that be in the entertainment industry that are starting to realize that a backlash could occur against them since they are not a necessity and only a leisure for people who make the country go. It is fine for them to have their political opinions but for them to try and use their fame to bash people, is going to backfire terribly if they keep it up.

They need us we do not need them, and they have forgotten this.

IMO it's best to keep politics out of any business unless it crosses a religious line.
