Does Tennessee have the WR corps to make a real run?

I thought they had a lot of talent last year, but North and Pig petered out for whatever reasons, Malone underperformed and Croom has been converted, IIRC.

Pearson and Smith were solid, but no clear star ever really emerged.

Malone returns, as does Smith. I hear that Williams is a real talent waiting to emerge, but it's unclear at this point.

Is Williams that good? If not, who will be "the guy" this season? Because you definitely need a "the guy" if you want to chase championships.

The problem isn't the wideouts. It's the QB. Dude can't throw.

Pig was kicked off the team after the second game.

Croom missed the entire season with a knee injury.

North was injured most of the season.

Overall, I think the will be a serviceable (middle of the pack in the SEC) group.

Doesn't matter - Dobbs is an average passing QB at best.

Average to slightly above average group. TEs will be pretty good though, as will Kamara catching the ball out of the backfield.

Azzanni is the real problem if we're being honest. Malone, Williams, Smith and Jennings should be an upper tier unit and there is some very good young talent as well in Byrd, Callaway and Johnson. Unfortunately with the offense, track record and coaching it's hard to expect much.

The TEs are the definition of average imo unless Croom is much better at TE than he was WR.

Only if they can routinely turn 10 yard wounded ducks into 40 yard plays. The evil alien had a bad game against us in the air, about half the QBs we played last year set personal records. Like asking for a stud running back to emerge at Texas Tech or Houston.

Wrong. The WR's were more of the problem. It was a combination of injuries, coaching, drops, and simply not being able to get open. Dobbs put a lot of throws on the money they just couldn't hang onto the ball. Dobbs can definitely improve his passing but he isn't the main problem in the throw game.

Yes. Williams is more than that good. Smith is back. Malone has finally had a consistent fall camp and the lights may have finally come on.

Newcomers Marquez Calloway and Brandon Johnson (Ochocinco's nephew) will play. Newcomer Tyler Byrd is expected to be a star. All have had great camps.

The past few years camp news for the WR corps has been pretty terrible. This year has been the opposite.
