Does LSU Have Any Chance of Running on Alabama?

I know that it is weeks away, but I am just wondering what the Rant thinks. Can Fournette & Co. break 150 yards rushing vs Alabama? If they do, will it matter? Can LSU break 100 yards passing vs Alabama?

Just thinking about future games.

Can LSU run on Alabama?

If so, how will they do it?

We can run it well enough to win. We need to go 5 wide and make them play straight up in the box. We can win that battle enough to get victory.

Of course they can.

Seriously? Leonard Fournette? Anyone? Bueller?

Of course our D is capable of shutting your whole offense down, but when you have a player like Fournette, running against anyone is possible. Not to mention that no one is completely sold on our secondary yet, and LSU has some talented WRs. Its really too early to tell, IMO.

LSU will rush for 150 yards as a team. I think we can all agree on that.

Sure, why not? Our RBs averaged 6.8 yds/carry against them.

Definitely, they've done it in the past with lesser talent upfront and in the passing game.

Not running for 100 would be a fiasco

Of course LSU can run on Bama. Will it result in enough points to win the game? We will see.

No, not possible. This Bama D is better than 2011 team and they were said to be better than the '85 Chicago Bears.

Best way to beat Bama is to take your best player off the field? Bold move, Cotton.

Its going to be tough to run against them, but if you can average 4-5 ypc you're gonna be picking up some first downs. The question should be if we can throw against Bama. Harris has a lot of work to do before then.

Solid non trolling response. You should give gumpdyke a quick orientation on being a human being.

IMO the UF game will be very telling for LSUs passing attack.

Georgia had a decent ypc so yes its possible. What georgia was unable to do was win the turnover battle. This is the key to that game, don't turn the ball over. Much easier said than done against that defense

Simple. if LSU can hit some first down passes then yes we can run on them.

83 of UGA's 193 rushing yards came on a late run when the game was beyond out of reach.

Stastitically they were achieved during "garbage time."

Without that one insignificant run, they averaged 2.97ypc lol

UGA's YPC was inflated by the one long run. I think there's a good chance you see same outcome as the UGA game with the LSU game if we can contain the run.... Bama is built for the UGA/LSU games and without a passing game could be a long night for LSU.

I was pretty shocked at how effective LSU was power running against Bama last year. With a little better passing, and a little more creativity, I could see them putting up a similar to better offense effort.

Will that be enough? That is a very different matter.

Sure they can, to an extent. I could see LF7 carying it for 30 times for 130 or something like that. Problem is the passing game may not break 100, and LSU will need 400-500 yards and 30+ points to beat Bama in BDS. I doubt that happens.

You take out the one long run in garbage time when the score was 31-3, they averaged under 3 ypc.
