Does ANYONE think Teo deserves the Heisman, other than these 2 groups:

1. Notre Dame fans.
2. People wanting to see a defensive player win it.

Admittedly, I'm halfway in group 2 - I think it's ridiculous that a defensive player is never seriously considered. But I can't for the life of me see Teo being the one to break that streak. He's a good player and a good guy on an undefeated team. But I don't think anyone seriously thinks he's the best linebacker in the country (other than Irish fans).

Look any time you have a chance to give Notre Dame a Heisman or National Championship you have to. Some things are bigger than you.

Woodson was a defensive player

Considering the best player in the country isn't even being considered, why not?

Johnny deserves to win the Heisman and if he doesn't, it would be a shame.

I mean, they deserve these things, some people's lives are a lot harder than yours and people that grow up in places like Alabama going to non-Catholic churches will never understand.

Tradition. Something other schools in football don't have a clue about.

If any defensive player deserved it over the past years...it was Suh....no player has came close to him in that category besides DT....also Derrick Thomas deserved the Heisman...if we're talking about defensive players who should've won it!! lol.

Snout, that was awesome.

Woodson was a defensive player, but there is no question in mind that he would not have won the award on his defensive skills alone, and his return ability was a huge factor.

I agree more defensive players should have had a shot over the years, but it's too hard to convince the public that it's the right choice. Highlights of a defensive lineman aren't as sexy as QB scrambles to long touchdown throws or punt returns.

I think a bigger answer is they would rather give it to an upperclassman than a freshman...Manziel should win it, but he likely won't. ND mania running wild.

yes, Te'o deserves the Heisman. He was the best player I saw this year.

There is no rational argument for considering the age/classification of the player. If this were a career award, it would be extremely relevant (and despite the absolute joke of giving it to Ron Dayne, it is not supposed to be a career award).

Once they gave it to an underclassman, that opened the doors. No justification at all for being willing to give it to a sophomore but not a freshman.

I already said he won the Heisman in another thread. No way he shouldn't other than bias.

If he was clearly the dominate defensive player in college football, I actually would not have a problem with it.

I don't think Bama will be scheming to stay away from Te'o. That ought to tell you something.

The Heisman winner has not yet been announced. We know there are three finalists, and we know that an extremely reliable site is projecting Manziel to win it going away.

But to somehow act like it has already been handed over is pretty stupid. Dewey defeats Truman.

Marquie Lee deserves the Heisman, but didn't get enough votes for an invite to New York.

Guess Lane should have let him try to kick some PATs in blow outs...
