Does anyone doubt the Ole Miss case is going to be settled in court?

Hate to break it to you but this is not gonna be pretty. Ole Miss fights til the bitter end. Takes down as many with them as possible.

Going to court doesn't mean you are taking anyone with you.

You'll go to court, and lose. Badly.

I don't know how they fight a winning battle in court. They opt to be part of the NCAA and thusly have to abide by the decisions. If they choose to exit the NCAA, then they lose a shite ton of money.

Unless they get the death penalty I doubt they'd want to risk going to court and even then they'd have to have a legal leg to stand on.

It won't be done until NuTt and Miller get done suing Ole Miss and Freeze, so I guess I agree.

I'm sure this entire board would make a ban bet with you. Let's start with you being banned until it's settle in the courts.

Which court fight? There are several.

A booster or two could sue. The school would have a very difficult time getting any traction in court.

Plus, the last thing Ole Miss wants to do is give the NCAA the right of discovery.

All I know is that I wouldn't frick around with Mars (Nutt's attorney). That Man has proven to be one helluve representative. If I ever get into trouble or need to sue I want him on my side.

And the thing about the court case is that it doesn't matter who wins. OM will come out damaged either way. BUT the admin is stubborn as hell.

Yup. It's so bad I doubt Hugh Freeze coaches ever again and I bet the AD gets fired.

I think there are multiple facets of this debacle that could (and probably will) see courtrooms--both criminal and civil.
And the NCAA will also rule in its own "court."
I'm not sure what your point is, though, unless you're speculating that other universities may be involved?
Nothing about this fiasco indicates such, but I guess it's possible?
That won't save OM, regardless.

So which Ole Miss booster with a beef with the school has an ongoing legal case to which the NCAA inappropriately attached itself? Whose otherwise unrelated court proceeding has the NCAA sat in on and asked questions of witnesses under oath?

Ole Misses only play is to try to separate themselves from Freeze as far as possible. Which is a weak play since they were so adamantly for him before. Whenever Ole Miss gets handed penalties it will set them back for 10 years.

1. Houston Nutt fight in federal court.
2. Public records lawsuit in Jackson.
3. Rebel Rags lawsuit in Lafayette County (Oxford).

The problem Ole Miss faces is that the more lawsuits exists, Ole Miss's ability to control any part of this process or scandal gets smaller and smaller as its fortunes are tied to that of other parties.

What case? What court? You think OM is taking the NCAA to court?

#s 1 and 2 cannot help Ole Miss with the NCAA. Best case scenario is it doesn't get worse. #3 could help if the allegations get proven false in court, but there are so many other allegations that it'd be little more than putting a band-aid on a bullet wound.

The school has very little legal recourse against the NCAA.

I assume you're talking about the NCAA issues.

If so, then nobody but delusional OM fans think it will ever end up in court. You're not taking anyone down and you're going to accept whatever punishments the NCAA issues.

How dare the NCAA hold Ole Miss accountable for breaking rules that they willingly agreed to follow!
