With Trent Richardson being cut by the Raiders today, are the Saban Alabama star players prone to shorter professional careers due to being overworked in college? I wonder what the numbers look like for the NFL gumps during the Saban era. Sure, they have some that have shined like Julio but I wonder if Saban's getting the best part of these athletes before they reach the NFL?

One whole player?

Clearly, you have invested a lot of time researching your hypothesis.

More players in the NFL top 100 than any other team.

More players currently on NFL rosters than any other SEC team.

More 2014 Pro-Bowl players than from any other SEC team.

Out of the last 3 RBs we've had drafted (not including Rookie TJ Yeldon), two of them were Pro-Bowlers in 2014.

I suppose you can answer your own question.

Trent Richardson led Bama in carries 1 season in 2011. He wasn't over used he just has bad feet and acceleration. He had 112 and 145 carries in his other 2 season.

The issue is more about over hyping them come NFL Draft time, not success ratio in the NFL.

What a fascinating argument. But didn't we discuss this when Trent had a rough start at Cleveland? And didn't we discuss it yet again when he failed at Indianapolis?

Do you have anyone to go along with Trent Richardson to prove your point? I noticed you didn't mention Eddie Lacey, or even Mark Ingram (who seems to have found his stride now)

That's actually incorrect. There are multiple SEC teams who have lost to Ohio State at least once. We were just the most recent.

Arkansas' loss from a few years ago didn't go away. OSU just vacated the win. Arkansas still has a loss in the record book.

Most Bama players go pro in 3 years. They have normal workloads. It's not like he's out there practicing them anymore than any other team. It's a theory full of holes, but very popular around here for some reason.

This isn't specific to Alabama. Kids bust all the time. Alabama just produces more good college players than anyone else, so we're bound to have more bust. Law of averages.

CJ Mosley and Dont'a Hightower were selected at the back end of the first round after other backers, they're both top 5 at their position. Were they overhyped? Julio Jones? Marcel Dareus? Eddie Lacy?

Such a sad argument. Bama has more players producing in the NFL than any school in the league. Amazing really, considering the disadvantage they face coming out of school with all them dern miles
