Do you wish the SEC stayed at 12?

I think they should have stayed at 12 since it almost results in 2 different conferences. One visit to the non-cross division rivals every 12 years. And how many people in Missouri watch the football team, for all the talk about tv markets? At the very least the SEC should have stayed at 13 once they realized that their best choice for 14 was Missouri. I personally am mad about the ACC's expansion for Pitt and Syracuse. Around 2008 or 2009, years before the expansion, the ACC said it would have 9 conference games starting in 2013. This would mean you would play non cross divisional teams 3 out of every 5 years. Then for some reason the ACC changed its mind and decided to stick with 8 conference games shortly after inviting Pitt and Syracuse. So now we play most teams in the other division every 6 years, just like sec teams do.

I hope we go to 16 or 20 and have pods. UK, UT, Vandy, UVA and Mizzou would be a great North Pod.

Would the sec then break up like the 16 team WAC did?

I'd take that as a pod any day. We'd walk into the "SEC playoff" 9 years out of 10 :haha:

no. A&M added good market value and Mizzou has played good football mostly. Good additions.

No, the TV contract money alone would cement the arrangement.

Based on UT's recent history? Doubtful.

The other teams really like the great big SEC Network checks they have started getting.
Compare that to the 2009 TV contract which really sucked.

But would the have gotten a similar contract raise if they stayed at 12?

No. The money isn't from a contract lookin. It is from the SEC Network which was started up after the expansion made it feasible and extremely profitable.

10, and fade into oblivion. 16 and lead change. The decision is simple.

Who the frick would ever top us in that pod? Missouri maybe once a decade, UVA UK and Vandy are all doormats in football.

quote:Go back and look at the history of the league. There were matchups that almost never happened back when the teams arranged their own schedules and were only required to play five conference games. While I hate the fact that we won't make it around the other division for years, it's really not inconsistent with the history of the league.

It's like State forgot about who has the worst winning % in the West. Maybe if we expand, we can invite Tulane back. They have more titles than State, and more recently at that. Plus New Orleans...
