You and I have a different definition of average...1 MVP award, 1 NFL Player of the Year Award, 1 All Pro, 4 Pro Bowls, 1 of only 16 QBs to have been named to an NFL All Decade Team, 1 Super Bowl ring, and, up until 1981, he was the only QB in NFL history to have completed more than 2/3 of his passes in a single season. He led the Raiders to 5 straight AFC Conference Championship games, which wasn't matched till Brady did it with the Patriots. Not to mention that Stabler did this in an era that had QBs such as Bradshaw, Staubach, Tarkenton, Griese, and Namath...

When football was still football and the QB was a live target just like anyone else on the field.
