Do you consider Division titles to be meaningful?

Tennessee recently put up SEC East champion banners in the football complex next to the SEC Championship and National Title banners. I have seen some backlash from our fanbase and I agree with it. It is nice to get to ATL, but if you don't win it shouldn't be celebrated at all. You can use it in recruiting to show progress, but in the end you fell short.

The Fulmer situation is a good example, was getting to ATL every 3 or so years but couldn't win when it mattered and was rightfully fired less than a year after getting there for the final time. This is similar to the Cardinals having a ring ceremony for winning the NL imo. Embarrassing.

Ask the State of Mississippi.

To some people one divisional title in football 16 year ago > national titles and conference titles won in the 60's

The rationale is that it looks good to recruits, but it is sad imo. I have been to all the SECCGs we've lost and nothing about that should be celebrated.

I know, but is that even meaningful considering we lost to Bama in the NC game in 2011? No. I can tell you as an LSU fan that nobody cares about even the SEC trophy.

Sure.
As meaningful as a conference title? No.
But meaningful? Absolutely.

Good for recruiting, but should we flaunt them around by using sigs and other forms of communications on this site? No.

If the program wants to award rings for it I'm ok with it. Just don't flaunt it around like an SEC title

That is crazy to me. I realize Ole Miss has never been to ATL, but getting there and losing doesn't mean anything. I guess you have bragging rights in your division for a year, but nothing more.

It's all relative. If its the best thing they've done in the past 50 years, hell yes, hang the fricken division banner.

No, it's really not. The LSU fan base and SEC fans give us shite about that year. That, IMO, was the best LSU team ever. Nobody gives a shite. You have to win a NC these days.

Oh, I see. I definitely think that SEC titles are a big deal. I realize 2011 was kind of a strange situation for LSU, but it is definitely something to be proud of looking back.

I knew LSU was fricked that year when you guys were letting UGA lead you at half-time of the SECCG. I didn't think we were gonna win, but I knew you might not be so lucky with your next opponent.

I hated being right.

To the assholes on this site?
Maybe.
But there're a whole heckuva lot of other people out there who aren't idiots who demand pissing contests every 5 minutes--about every damn thing under the sun.
Winning is never a bad thing.

Basically how I feel. Tennessee has won several SEC titles. No reason to hang banners for being a runner-up.
