Arkansas senior Brandon Allen is one of 30 quarterbacks to be named to The Manning Award watch list, the Allstate Sugar Bowl announced Thursday.

Allen is one of just three returning quarterbacks in the nation to pass for 20-plus touchdowns and five or fewer interceptions last season.

LINK

5th year senior
2 years of starting experience
The talent around him is better than he's ever had
New OC/QB coach should be an upgrade
Better speed/elusiveness than anyone gives him credit for (see: LINK)

Speed and elusiveness vs texas Tech

C'mon you can't seriously be using that to base your argument on

So one out of every four starting QB's is on the watch list?

Not saying he's elite. But if he sucked, like a lot of rantards say, he wouldn't be on the list.

But if he sucked

Who's saying he sucks?

He's probably the 4th best qb in the West but that doesn't mean he's bad. The west just happens to have some amazing QB's at the moment

Me. He sucks

Even people in the west outside of MSU and maybe A&M would disagree with that. It doesn't mean that guys like Johnson (who I think will be incredible) don't have the potential to be great, but to say the West is stacked at QB is just wrong.

Seriously??? Jim Chaney is one hell of a QB coach. What would make you say that Enos would be a better QB coach than Chaney? Heck...Chaney has been pretty damn successful as an OC, too.

maybe but he's also an atrocious play caller.

Enos actually played QB. Enos' offensive philosophy is more in line with Bert's.

I've seen a lot of bad offensive coordinating in my time, and Chaney is up there as one of the worst.

I like Brandon Allen. He's a throwback to an era that doesn't ask much more from a QB than not turning the ball over.

But he's not going to light up a stat sheet. His completion percentage is bad and I don't think he has big play ability.

He really beefed his numbers up vs a weak OOC

OOC:
60 % CP
10 TD 0 INT
8.63 YPA
171.3 Rating

SEC:
54.5 %
10 TD 5 INT
6.10 YPA
114.5 Rating

He's decent at best.

He'll be one of the better QBs in the conference this year. It can't be understated how much QB experience matters in the SEC.

Doesn't Arkansas have a whole new WR group?

Hate to burst your bubble, but Chris Relf was once named to the Manning Award watch list.

If you are a returning starter, you are on that list. Winners in the past have not even start on the watch list at the beginning of the season. Call me back in November.

Stephen Garcia made the midseason watch list one time. I don't think it is that hard to crack it.
