In everyones opinion were Clemson and Alabama the two teams that deserved to be in the championship game last night?

I think so.
I am not sure they got the final four right, but it worked out in that the top two played.
I would still be keen to see an 8 team playoff.

Bama and Clemson are the two best teams in the country. I think it's as clear as can be

Yes. They got it right last year as well.

Yes, but Ole Miss probably would have beaten them both if played last night.

If anyone had a legitimate argument to be in the 4 team playoff it was Ohio State. I think OSU had the best loss of all the one loss teams in the country if you go by where the team they lost to was ranked when they got beat. I think their loss was better than the Oklahoma loss to Texas.

MSU dominated OSU. The game should not have been that close.

College football will never really be fair.
One thing I prefer in the NFL is that the teams can lose a few and still make the playoffs.
Sometimes teams lose a game when their qb is out and that literally cost them a shot.
Lots of times the best teams at the end of the year are not going to have the best record.
I don't think there is really any way to address this. While I am still in favor of an 8 team playoff --- look at the way injuries shaped that TCU/Oregon game.
I think Charles Barkley said it best in the NBA the best team wins the championship, in football the best team that night wins it.
Again, I think Clemson and Alabama were the two best teams so it worked out.
I am not sure you could say MSU should have been in the top four.

Ohio St. probably had the worst loss of the one loss teams last year and got in, so call it a wash.

MLB/NHL/NBA have the truest of true champions. At least 82 game seasons (I don't know how many MLB plays but I know its more), multiple 7 game series, and an eventual winner.

Exactly. It is a caste system.

I do not think it ever can be fair.
You cannot expect college athletes to play that many games and further risk their health and future just to be sure you got it "right".
It is a flawed system. But I think it worked this time.
Not so sure about last year, I would think TCU might have been the best team. Again, as a fan, I would love an 8 team playoff.

Stats wise for sure. I had no problem with MSU being in over OSU. Do I think OSU beats MSU in a dome on that same day, absolutely. Doesn't matter since the game was played outside pouring in 38 degrees.
However, if there is a team in the country who both Clemson and Bama would be concerned about playing if there was a game next week, aside from each other of course, it would probably be OSU.

quote:So why do even the greatest programs go through long periods of suckage? Why does Texas suck and Oregon is good? Why do new powerhouses emerge out of nowhere, like Miami in the 80s, like Florida and FSU in the 90s, like Oregon in the 2010s. Why did Colorado have a good run but now it's over? Why did Nebraska, Tennessee fall off after being all time great programs? Where the hell did Clemson come from?
Exactly. It is a caste system.
You sound like an excuse making bitch

Genro,
I think you are correct in that the system got it right this year.
I am just not confident that this system will consistently get it right.
But at the end of the day, as long as the games are good, that is ok.
That MSU/Alabama game this year and FSU/Oregon game last year however, seem to make the case they are not getting the top four right.
