Did Ole Miss fans act like this in '08 after Tebow & UF won the NC?

I thought I remembered Ole Miss fans being happy they were able to beat the eventual champs earlier in the year. I don't remember all the temper tantrums we've seen today.

It's because Dexter McCluster was their entire team that year.

Counting Notre Dame in the 1980s, Florida in 2008 and Bama this year, WAOM leads in "We beat the NC during the regular season" titles. Helluva feat

Or Mike Wallace, Michael Oher, Greg Hardy, Kendrick Lewis, Shay Hodge, Brandon Bolden, Peria Jerry, John Jerry, Marshay Green, hell even Jevan Snead.

That team was stacked.

It was actually 1977. OM placed a color photo from the game on the cover of the OM school annual that year.

Do you non Ole Miss SEC fans realize how long it has been since OM has had national relevance? Are you surprised the fanbase is hungry for recognition? 50+ years of 0 conference titles will do that to you.

Ole Miss fans have suffered for a long, long time.

It's like a parody, but it was real life.

Yes.

It took a lot of turnovers that year too. Fumbled hand offs and crap.

My granddad still has a hat from when we beat Florida in 2002 and they finished ranked like in the 20's. We are bottom feeders at heart and arent use to success.

Wow. 1977. Priceless photo. Sidelines were not managed as well back in those days. Chain gang member is on the field and so is the side official. Ole Miss probably sold sideline tickets to that game.

It gets on my nerves too. I'm happy we beat Bama. It was a big win in Tuscaloosa. But that's what it was. A win. Bama bounced back and had a heck of a season. Congrats on the NC!!

This "National Relevance" thing is a bit hard to pin down evidently. Ole Miss did finish ranked 10th just today. I call that relevant. They did beat Bama. That's certainly relevant. They did finish second in the toughest conference and its toughest division. That's relevant. The No. 1 HS quarterback in the country will be an Ole Miss student/player in days. Same for the No. 1 HS left tackle next season. In fact there are probably only 6 or 7 teams now that are more relevant nationally. But hey, y'all spin this however you want. Most OM fans really like where there team and school is right now, and the attention being spread their way only reaffirms those feelings.

Listing high school prospects that have never played a down of college football makes you irrelevant. Just ask Texas with their 500 5 star recruits and 1 national title in 50 years.
