Just like Rammer Jammer, it's a modification of Hotty Toddy. Just like everything else that State does, aside from their cowbells, it's a lame ripoff of somebody else.

Almost ever school in the nation does a cheer to the "hey song"
most include "cause we(re) going to beat the hell outta you" followed by something related to their school.
(former band member here who has listened to almost everyone's version and to those who say they started it, nobody knows so get over it)

Actually, the Bulldog is State's third mascot. They used to be the Aggies and before that they were the Maroons (or maybe it's the other way around).
Just like Ole Miss used to be the Red and Blue, then the Flood, and now the Rebels. It happens. Who gives a frick?

Uh, no.
Ole Miss, Alabama, and State are the only schools I know of that do the "we're gonna beat the hell outta you," thing to the "hey song." Unless there are some other I should be aware of.
It's not all that common. It's an SEC West thing, I guess.
