Kiffin is a very good OC and QB coach. He has been an abject failure as a head coach.
I see I reason to think that he will suddenly change and become a great head coach. Three years under Saban's thumb isn't enough.

I read an article that said Houston wanted their coach to have a huge buy-out. That may have been why they moved on from Kiffin. The article made it sound like it was his job, but something happened at the last minute to change that. The writer speculated that was it.

That one is getting added to the "crazy shite grandpa says" for sure. Thanks!

It's not karma. It's just Houston insuring they go back to irrelevance.

It's my sincere hope that Kiffin is so pissed that he calls two of his greatest games for Alabama (if he gets the chance) just to prove he is one of the best in game OC's out there.
His baggage along with the buyout and his notorious agent were all parts of the UH Head Coaching failure. I personally do not believe he missed out on a great opportunity. We'll see.
edit- It makes one wonder what gave Kiffin the idea to run Derrick Hery so much two game in a row last year. I liked it. Many mediots thought he ran him like a rented mule, but that was far from the truth. He used a strong, well rested weapon against another teams weakness while ignoring the TE that had the game of his life against Clemson.

When Lane Kiffin left Tennessee after one year, there was a feeling among many people that he left the program high and dry and walked out on a commitment. (Of course, not everyone felt that way, but many did, particularly Vols).
I have to think that one of the main considerations of Applewhite over Kiffin is that Applewhite, having strong Texas roots, is far more likely to spend longer at Houston than Kiffin would. And that is accentuated by the fact that Kiffin left Tennessee so suddenly to go to USC.
Some people would say this is naive thinking...but I imagine there are quite a few Tennessee fans that feel vindicated today, and that poetic justice was served.

Also, karma doesn't actually work like that except in the minds of 21st century Americans who learned everything they know about other religions from yoga instructors at high-end gyms.
