Lets be clear, he wasn't undrafted due to lack of skill or physical ability. Nobody ever said he had a better character than Amari
I disagree totally. He isn't and has never been an NFL WR physically.

You are indeed a HUGE pussy. There isn't one board on this site that doesn't know that. Have fun posting where everything laughs at you

You're either dumb or only watched him this year. Dude could have made a nice living in the NFL. He has elite range and hands. Not very fast but understands how to find open space (especially across the middle) and is very good on jump balls.

Read every scouting report on him. There was a reason he returned and it wasn't DC talking him into it. He got the same evaluation last year. He is missing some major pieces to make NFL scouts salivate. I believe his attitude and issues this season began when he received an undrafted grade last year.

Are you serious? We are talking about the same Duke Williams right?
He was the definition of an NFL WR physically. I'll say that by the time he ended up at Auburn to the time he left, he was definitely a little out of shape. You should have seen him in high school though. Many recruiting experts in the area will tell you he was the most physically gifted of any WR to ever come out of the state of LA. He just has zero work ethic. Its a shame.

This is what he became though.
Stiff hips (Red Flag)
Small Hands (Red Flag)
Unable to Separate (Red Flag)
Those alone would keep you from getting drafted at the very least would cause you to go late.
Then add.
Poor route runner (Red Flag)
Poor blocker (Red Flag)
On the field discipline issues (Red Flag)
Off the field discipline issues (Red Flag)
Unable to standout against elite talent (Red Flag)
His greatness at the High School level will grow because we saw so little of him against guys with actual physical gifts to help us realize he was lacking.

Which makes this story I saw posted on BR even more funny

Most reports were unanimous that he has the size, range, and hands. But character issues were a major, major concern. If he had elite or even good speed he would be a take but doesn't and teams aren't going to take that big of a risk on a number 2 WR.

I agree, he had all the tools except for the main one between the ears.

Stiff hips and below average athlete. Restricted, semi-strider off snap and slow into routes. Won?t slip many tackles in the open field after the catch. Despite his size, blocking not a priority for him. Small hands for his size. Can't shake free underneath and will have to live off of contested catches. Very little acceleration for separation out of breaks. Could be forced into slot role only.
Must learn to use his hands better. Too often lets the ball get to his body on receptions. That will lead to drops in the NFL.
Tends to not protect the ball when he’s carrying it. Prone to being stripped.
He doesn't consistently play up to his size and often misjudges his highpointing jumps when attacking the ball.
Does not possess the highest football IQ
Not super fast, can't out run many DBs
Struggles to get open
Poor route running, not very creative
His blocks can be enormous one play, and extremely weak the next
Can make easy drops downfield
Looks like he is on cruise control at times
When guys are calling you a below average athlete and struggling to get open at the WR position you are in trouble. This isn't someone questions Cam's IQ which isn't measurable we are talking about things that can be measured and assessed.

He was highly rated out of JC as well. Its another example of all the tools but not seeing the bigger picture and as some said team first mentality.

I attribute every single one of those thing, except for small hands, to his character. Route running and blocking are all about work ethic. There is no reason that someone with his size and ability wasn't a great blocker, except for he just never cared to become a great blocker. Same thing with route running. If he ran good routes he would get separation and standout against elite talent.
Can't really do anything about small hands, and I have no clue how big his hands are but I'd imagine there are a good amount of WRs in the NFL with just as small of hands as his.

I read "lazy and hasn't been developed"

idk where that draft analysis was pulled from, but Duke Williams was not a below average athlete. Thats just blatantly inaccurate.

The stiff hips is most concerning because it is a sign of lack of athleticism needed at that level. It is why he was a poor route runner he couldn't make crisp direction changes, etc...
The small hands is quantified for his size, but he did have soft hands. The critique about body catches was also fair and a sign of small hands. Ultimately at best he was a slot possession receiver with no ability to make a person miss and break it. In the NFL that is almost useless.

nah, Auburn doesn't develop WR's. To many If's and Woulda/Coulda's in your argument. LINK
Didn't this undeveloped WR go higher in the draft than Cooper?

You'd be wrong. Williams couldn't move like Cooper if the cops were chasing him

That came from NFL.com. The others were CBS, etc...Duke was a below average athlete at that level. He rarely created seperation when playing against SEC caliber DB's. That goes back to stiff hips. Then add the lack of elite speed and he can't even run by you. He had some skills but he was over blown from the start. It wasn't that hard to tell. Auburn fans understood if we'd had any intermediate passing game in 2013 we would have won the BCS and we went bonkers watching him make 10 yard in route catches in 2014. That's great, but at the next level guys who can make that catch are a dime a dozen and the NFL is looking for the ones who make that catch and turn it into something more. He doesn't have those skill sets.

I guess that shows why I am not in the NFL. I thought he would be a top pick until he got dismissed. Even then I thought someone would take a chance.
