Seems like out of the two hires most LSU fans are more excited about the Coach O hire, even though on paper it's worse from an objective perspective.

I mean, Steele was employed by the second best coach in college football. That is a big sign of modern competency to me. Heck it was on the D, aka the side of the ball Nick cares about. The guy is a not really a risk.

Meanwhile Coach O has burned out as a head coach just like Steele, but was unemployed for a good while! You always prefer to hire a guy with a job or right out of a job (like Will). O might be washed up. It is a bigger risk.

Am I wrong? Is O really the more exciting hire?

Disclaimer: Yes I am an Aggie starting an LSU thread but it's a legit question and my only thread here today so screw off.

O is more exciting because it's Coach O. He drives Hummers, rips shirts off, and is as Louisiana as frick. He's perfect.

LSU's OC and DC were both fired the last time they held the same position with another team because they sucked so bad.

Really? We hired him for the position he was born to coach. He may have burnt out as a head coach but his dlines were always rock solid.

I don't know why Aggies are so interested in LSU defense? Hell, A&M could Have Vince Lombardi as a HC and Have the 85 Bears defense and would still lose 3 games a year

Hey now. Coach O has coached at other SEC programs. Plenty of people have first hand experience.

I sensed no troll in your post. It's not a problem for an Aggie to start a thread about LSU. People are just on edge because nearly all Aggie threads ooze with butthurt these days.

And he was always on point with the DLine! Now he failed in other aspects as a head coach but you should really stop looking at his record as a head coach unless you are only talking about DLine play because his record as a head coach means nothing
